The Miami Beach Bowl is getting a new owner and a new home.

The three-year-old bowl game — which was founded, owned and operated by the American Athletic Conference — has been acquired by ESPN Events, the league announced on Friday.

So basically screw the east division right? They already barely had anything in their region and now they don't even have MBB. Still got St. Petersburg and Boca Raton at least.

I wonder why ESPN chose to move it. I know attendance sucked, but that I would think is more because it was on a Tuesday afternoon rather than the location. What stadium will it be played in now?

Central Michigan vs. Tulsa in Miami is just asking for attendance problems.

So it'll be played in Toyota Stadium, an MLS stadium, capacity 20,500. Annual home of the FCS title game.

Also, apparently we no longer have a tie-in with this bowl. AAC will play SBC in 17 and 19, MAC in 18.

Assuming the same stadium that hosts the FBS championship game

And so, the game was played in front of tens of people:

There legitimately might be more members of the team bands than actual spectators. (And no, it was not a late-arriving crowd.)

No one in South Florida is going to take off work to go see Central Michigan and Tulsa play football — sorry. As a former South Floridian, I can say that there are probably only 50 to 100 people who are attending that game on purpose. The rest are drifters.

Well that sucks. This conference can't seem to catch a break. I would love to get back with the Military Bowl in Annapolis or even the Montgomery Bowl. Hopefully Bahamas can move to Charleston, SC or something.

RE: Miami Beach bowl moving?
The Miami Beach Bowl is rotational where we were scheduled to be in it 3 of the 6 years of the current cycle.

Our 2017 bowl lineup is...

– Boca Raton Bowl vs. American Athletic
– St. Petersburg vs. ACC
– Popeyes Bahamas Bowl vs. MAC
– Gildan New Mexico Bowl vs. Mountain West
– R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl vs. Sun Belt
– Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl vs. Big Ten
– Camping World Independence Bowl (Conditional if ACC or SEC can’t fill a spot)

I think Miami Marlins Stadium was a terrible place to try to play a football game. I'm not too distraught if its moved.

Yeah I saw another tweet saying we aren't even in it for the next three years. The eastern sunbelt schools are the ones who should be most upset. AAC can't complain when they're sending Tulsa to a bowl in Miami...Texas is probably better for the MAC.

RE: Miami Beach bowl moving?
I can certainly understand the AAC wanting to get one of their bowls moved to Texas. I'm not sure SMU, Houston, and Tulsa looking to go play in a 20K soccer stadium, in Fresco, but I guess it's better then nothing. Nothing says "Power 6" like playing the Sun Belt/MAC in a Fresco soccer stadium. Good for the AAC.

C-USA didn't have a dog in this fight. ESPN probably doesn't care where the bowl is located, it plays on T.V. just the same. Bowl committees seem to be focusing on attendance, and that probably played a part in this bowl getting moved. Too bad it moved. It is a bowl C-USA might have been able to place a team in, if we ended the season with extra bowl eligible teams.

Why doesn't FIU Stadium host a bowl? South FL is always nice to visit in December. Myrtle Beach would be another good location and I'm sure the tourism folks their would embrace the game during the slow season. When is the new bowl game moratorium over? Maybe an existing bowl game could move in to fill the eastern void.

Becuase FIU plays on a soccer field where the road teams radio guys sit under a pitch tent to call the game.

Miami area never ever supports a 2nd bowl. It really doesn't support college sports in general. They have NFL, NBA, Hockey, and Baseball. They will sort of support UM if they are winning big.

They don't have a press box.
