I'll reserve judgement until I hear what we sold it for.

On the optimistic side, maybe ESPN promised a better payout and/or a better tie in? Maybe this was necessary to get PAC-12 teams interested? No way we just threw in the towel.

Per McMurphy,

-Located to 20.5k seat MLS stadium (same one that hosts FCS title game)
-AAC vs. SBC '17, '19. MAC '18

Not looking good.

And THIS^

lol....I live in Texas and have no idea where Frisco is. I'm probably not alone.

It's the place where they used to play the FCS Championship Game. It might still be.

Ya sounds like it, just that McMoustache reiterated meaning it hasn't changed.

Hoping this was traded for some sort of leverage or better tie-in elsewhere. If it was done for straight cash, that's troubling.

If it was sold for straight cash I want answers from Aresco. I can bump threads where he (and then posters) talked glowingly of the potential of this Bowl for the AAC. I want answers now.

You could be right where this is more of a preemptive move to land the PAC12 once the current deal expires. I mean I am sure the league still has the clause to replace the opponent so who knows maybe this season they grab a PAC12 team if there is one available. I have already seen a few bowls extended beyond 2019 so hopefully something is in the works. The league needs one showcase bowl or to be added to the contract bowls. Seems more likely to get the showcase bowl but who knows.

you dont play "showcase bowls" against Pac12 schools in a 20,000 seat soccer stadium in Frisco Texas.

Take off the tin hats...

The AAC shouldn't own a bowl game. We can't risk any losses that easily can happen in bowl games. We can't afford buying an opponent either. Espn wasn't really nice with our time slot. Very small crowds can travel on a workday.

I didn't say this was a showcase bowl. I was saying the league needs one badly.

So this year the bowl should be an AAC-West team vs. Arkansas State/UL-LAF right?

The PAC 12 won't be sending a team to The Frisco Bowl.

apologies - the fact that the loss of a pre-Christmas weekday bowl game played in the Miami Marlins baseball stadium is not as pathetic as replacing it with a pre-Christmas weekday bowl game in a soccer stadium in Frisco Texas is just brain freezing.

There was at least 300 people in the stands when Tulsa played in the MBB last year.

Not surprising. The Miami Beach Bosik looked pathetic on TV. Nobody was ever there, and it was played in that circus of a baseball stadium. Should be a good match-up between high quality, evenly matched teams from the Sun Belt and MAC. Should be able to sell it out if any of the western teams are matched up agains a regional Sun Belt team.

I hope you are right, that will mean that the AAC isn't sending a team there in 17,18 and 19. Start a new Bowl between the MWC and AAC to take the place of Poinsetta and MBB Bowls openings.
