Listened to this interview yesterday. Coach Fickell said some pretty profound things here about the mentality they are setting, his expectations and where he wants to take this program.

Most interesting quote; I paraphrase. "Never had this part of Ohio as my recruiting area. I've developed a good relationship with the area coaches Which wasn't done here in the past.

Speaks volumes!!!

The one I liked the best was when he talked about expectations and how former staff opined they should not expect to beat a B10 team (I thought instantly of the loss to Illinois in 2013 when Tubs said something about playing two B10 teams OOC).

Don't tell that to Purdue. Ha.

When the coaches and ADs of Elder and Colerain say in the local paper that the last coach never even came to see them once, it's not that hard to make an effort to impress.

Big difference between a young, hungry coach coming from a consistently winning program with high expectations and a coach biding his time until the casket drops.

The same way Wake Forest is a "P5" program.

Yes, I was pretty offended by that too, at the time. Seems Coach Fickell has really done his homework on the recent history of the program. The quote after the Illinois game is probably pretty obscure to most casual followers of UC football. For instance, I doubt my brother would have remembered that quote.

RE: Luke Fickell 2017 AAC Spring Teleconference
I've been nothing but impressed by the new coach. I said some things to the contrary during the search, seems I was wrong. For the record, never stopped dressing my kids in the red and black in a part of the state that looks at you funny if you don't do OSU or another big ten school. NW Ohio is flat and boring, but pretty good for growing things.
