mustard buzzards are now up against nicholls st two tds with 2 2pt conversions to 1 td with a 2 pt conversion in b8....

Watch out for Nichols, though, they can hit them 3-pointers without warning

we've only used 3 pitchers tonight heading into nola tomorrow against those stingy toolame turds.....that's huge since this week is a 5 game set going into this weekend against ODU....

Good thing about our pitching against Nichols is we didn't use any of our normal weekend relievers. We pitched two guys who hadn't thrown a pitch yet this season and one of them got the win. The other, Cooper Jones, had only pitched 9-2/3 innings over the last 3 years. Nelms and Cody Carroll were the other two pitchers. If we can get some good innings out of J.C. Keys tonight and not use more than 2 relief guys, we should be in good shape this weekend. At least our mid week road games were short 2 hour bus rides.

USM loses to Tulane 10-8. Went to mop up guys in middle innings and fell behind big. Offense rallied in late innings to pull close.

Fresh pitching staff for ODU this weekend. Much needed after the bullpen had a heavy workload against Rice.

well, the boys got a little work in last night....

we're fine going into the odu series this weekend....

winning 2 out of 3 shouldn't be an issue unless we go into brain fart mode (aka as TTT)

RE: CUSA Baseball 4/18-19/17
I lost a little more respect for Berry as a head coach tonight with a couple of his moves during the game. Early in the game down 3-0, and with Tulane's pitcher struggling to find the strike zone, he sends Keating with no outs and Braley at bat and he is easily out at second...bone headed...Braley follows with a walk and Wallner homers. Secondly, and probably the most questionable of the two, Berry sac bunts down five in the 8th with runners on first and second. I have always questioned Berry as a head coach, and this just convinces me more he is out of his league. We can win games by hitting the three run homer, when a pitcher is tough against us and we have to win with strategy....look out.

Are you sure when Keating was thrown out that it wasn't a failed hit and run? Berry mentioned that Braley was struggling a little at the plate and wanted to take the thinking out of it by forcing his bat with hit and runs. Not saying that is what happened but could be why Keating was thrown out easily.

If Braley was struggling at the plate then Berry should know you don't hit and run with him. Down 3-0 with no outs and a runner on first and your slugger up, you don't hit and run...

I have no problem with it. To that point (4th inn) we had not been able to manufacture a run. You can either continue to do what you've been doing unsuccessfully to that point or you try to make something happen.

The reason you would hit and run with a player who hasn't been their best is that you take the over thinking out of the AB. If you know "i am swinging no matter what" you eliminate the thought process and you just hit.

If the game is tied or you are up, I would agree. Another thing is that their pitcher was struggling with his control. If you hit and run you help the pitcher out tremendously, which we did...Braley walked right after that.

We had just stolen two bases easily, and Keating is one of our leaders in steals. No problem with the call.

I don't believe I want my slugger to "swing no matter what" at any pitch, and it proved to be a stupid call, especially with their pitcher struggling to throw strikes during that inning. We did them a big favor and I am sure they appreciated it.
