Future games with Miami
Saw on the other board that UC has Miami at home in both 2018 and 2019. Now the question is, does that mean UC is at Miami in 2020 and 2021 or will UC get three in a row at home?

RE: Future games with Miami
I really hope this is a change to a 2 for 1. The way the schedule lines up, it would make sense to go to Miami in 2020. We only have one game scheduled so far that year, and it's at Nebraska. In 2021, we have games at Ohio and at Indiana already on the schedule. We need 2 home OOC games, so Miami would fit at home that year and the next.

As I recall, our series with them runs out in 2020. I imagine they will be coming to terms to extend or terminate the series this year or next.

Let's get Miami 2 for 1 until we take the lead and then it's at Nppert or not at all.

I bet it's not. Unfortunately, I don't think an AAC team is in position to do this, unless a basketball series is thrown into the contract.

Doubt it goes to 2-1. Their donors would scream high holy hell.

Why stop there? Let's just do everyone 2 for 1. Better yet 3 for 1. We can keep making up whatever deals we want as long as we ignore the fact that the other school has to agree to the deal.

I agree. If we even had that kind of leverage as a BCS program in the Big East to force a 2 for 1, we certainly didn't exercise it. Miami has a reputation of playing P5 opponents pre-conference and most any of those schools can cut a better check for buy games.

Unless (or until) UC enters a P5 conference, this will likely remain a straight home and home deal.

On a more positive note though, I don't expect the lackluster performances by UC we saw against Miami under Tuberville. My hope is CLF has UC ready to take care of business against an improving Miami team. Sadly, it's the last remnant of anything close to a traditional rival within driving distance and has continued to draw well in spite of Miami's recent poor results. It's a short, enjoyable road trip where UC can dominate the home team's "crowd" so play on.

How bout we keep playing our rival 1 to 1 as it's the last true bit of college football we have left. Our last remaining rival, here or there, doesn't matter. Everyone else has gone the way of money and TV and it pisses us off. "Why won't Louisville or Pitt play us?" "Ohio State won't come here because they're scared..." yadda yadda. Yet we want to do the same to Miami. Let's be what we preach. I'll gladly travel 40 freaking minutes to their place to watch us take on an age old rival every other year.

Or piss them off and go down to zero rivalry games. Whatever.

Yep. During the BE I hated the series and I attended both schools. With UL, Pitt, and WVU within easy driving distance, playing an OOC road game every other year for UC was awful business.

Now it makes sense since it's the only road trip most UC fans can reasonably make every 2 years.

Did you miss we have Pitt home/away scheduled.

I would prefer doing 1-1 within schools other than Miami. We have OU scheduled 1-1. Why not other Mac schools in lieu of Miami? Almost all are a decent road trip.

I just forgot about it. I stand by my overall point.

Rivalries are what college football should be about. The competition. The rest of the country and sports media have worked their hardest to ruin it, let's not join in that venture.

RE: Future games with Miami
I'm guessing if this is the case , its a one time agreement since UC has 3 OOC road games in 2019 without the move. FBschedules and the Miami website still has it as @ Miami in 2019

It will be interesting to see what they do with this series as it comes up for renewal here soon .

I think we should stipulate that if we continue 1-1, games away be played at PBS and the profits are split based on tickets sold.

That makes sense so I doubt it will happen.

If Miami had fans and the Brown's and the City were promoters it would be every year downtown at Octoberfest or Thanksgiving Friday. For a long time played at UC at Thanksgiving.

Octoberfest would make sense - before conference game in a festival environment. Maybe make it a night game.

I like the concept. But didn't we hear during the recent UC season @ PBS that 40,000 fans were needed for "break even" with the stadium usage charges? If so, a very nice crowd of 41,000 for that game wouldn't leave much profit to split, especially compared with a full house @ Nippert.

I'd guess if Miami was willing to go on the road every year they would just take the larger payout for a P5 beating.

For years Miami had issues with average home attendance numbers. There was a NCAA minimum target number - I know the UC game was the big draw to boost the numbers every other year. Is this still an issue?
