AMB is a great place to have a very good beer or three. But I wouldn't agree with the Lost Province recommendation. I was there a couple weekends ago and they had a very good kolsch up and the friends I was with liked the Grizz, not sure exactly the type, brown ale I think, but was a darker beer and was reminiscent of the Moose Drool one would get from a Big Sky Brewing in Montana.

The food at Lost Province was very good that night also.

Second that. Lost Province is a great addition to downtown. Give it a try.

They do have good food and the open kitchen is pretty cool. My comment was directed towards their beer which, in my opinion, falls flat when compared to the other home town Boone breweries.

Is Booneshine working on a location, or are they just staying at Basil?

I'm not sure. It seems like they are pretty dug into Basil's and that appears to be working well for both parties.

I think all three were at the beer festival at the White Water Center in Charlotte last year. Good to see.

Yo, Boonshine, buy the Southern States building!

Love the Booneshine 3150 APA. Pairs well with a double cheeseburger from the Cardinal!

Cardinal burgers are legit. No doubt about that. Hit up Farm to Flame for a food truck that has a wood fired pizza oven. Good pimento appetizer, too.

Do Grandfather Mountain. You can drive to the top where there are lookouts, native animals, a theater with informative videos, hiking, and the swinging bridge. You can spend as little as a few hours there or make a day out of it.

If you don't mind a 30 min drive, Shatley Springs is much better than the DBI.

While I always put down my fair share of DBI ham biscuits on the Yosef stage at basketball games, I think both of those places are highly overrated. Then again, I'm more of a quality over quantity person when it comes to food.

Truth. The ham biscuits, fried chicken and strawberry shortcake are the only 3 things worth eating at the DBI. From my limited memory, Shatley Springs wasn't any better. When you grew up eating vegetables out of the garden that canned crap doesn't cut it.

It's been sevaral years since I've been to Shatley Springs. We made a point of going during the week. A lot less crowded and the food was prepared when you ordered it, not cooked up in advance. Much, much better.

Check out the mountains. I hear people who have never seen them seem to enjoy them....unless they are from Colorado or another Rocky Mountain state.
