Cuse ACC Regular Lax Season Champs
Next week is the conference playoffs...I'd really love to see a few more schools join.
Swofford was misguided not giving Johns Hopkins an associate membership.

Regular LAX?
I agree on Johns Hopkins. Although I think some others share the blame with Swofford.

I'd actually be extremely interested in knowing the decision making process that was used. Who would have voted against JHU and why?

This is the first I've heard that the ACC turned down Johns Hopkins. BTW, Hopkins isn't doing so great in lacrosse these days. Would it be a good idea to add them to the ACC?

IIRC...Hopkins made some overtures to the ACC. Some very public statements about how they enjoyed playing ACC teams, the competition in the ACC, etc. They never made any such statements about the B1G. No idea what was happening behind the scenes. However, the result was the ACC ignored Hopkins.
The ACC has some very prestigious medical programs. Adding what could be the best research hospital in the country, even as an associate member, even if they had a couple of down years, would be a good thing.

Congrats Cuse. Hopefully someday soon the Cards men's team can say the same.

That like saying "Penn State wasn't doing so great in football these days (except for last year). Would it be a good idea to add them to the ACC?"
Also, as a touch of context, JHU lax is currently ranked #13 (that's ahead of UNC and UVA).

If adding JHU as an associate lax member would have had the slightest iota of impact on the other medical schools in the conference, they would have been added immediately.
The ACC, however, is an athletic conference and it knows it.
Obviously, the other lax coaches didn't want them in, because it was clear JHU wanted in. Why? Who knows for sure, but maybe they didn't feel it was necessary to prop up the lax brand of JHU when there was no tangible benefit to the other lax programs in the conference. Why put them on equal recruiting footing?

I assume by "they," you mean UNC, Norte Dame, and Duke, and not the most storied program in men's lax (and it pains me to say that).
You're clearly right that somebody buried deep in the ACC HQ somewhere had some stupid reason to block JHU, but it was a mistake.

Now I'm going to take a shower and stare at an orange.
