Aggie riders shut out T.C.U. and handled Georgia en route to the Title!

The SEC has now won on points the National Championship of all 16 equestrian Titles. South Carolina, Auburn, Georgia, and Texas A&M have all won multiple times!

Congrats to our ladies!

It's too bad given how good the SEC is at the sport that it doesn't look like it will ever achieve full official NCAA status and is more likely to be dropped in the coming years

Although Kentucky has a fine program, I'm surprised this sport isn't taken more seriously at collegiate level in the state. Especially in the Louisville area.

It's not likely to be dropped at any of our schools 10th. The schools that sponsor the teams usually have Vet schools where large animal science is required. The horses never travel. When events are held at a school the opposing teams ride the same horses, the local ones. The riders are usually girls from wealthy families and the programs attract them from all over the country. Most of them are not native to the states of the schools they ride for. In that regard it very much like the ACC's lacrosse phenomenon. The NCEA is quite a different animal than the NCAA and the travel for the girls is about the only expense. It could easily fall under the auspices of the United States Olympic Committee if it ever needed to.

So celebrate your schools accomplishment and rest easy. It's likely to be with us a lot longer than some other sports.

There's a growing association called the IEA for middle & high schoolers that in my opinion will help the sport grow at the collegiate level.
