Ooh - the gloves are coming off. It wouldn't surprise me if the general benign world of academics starts to become more and more cutthroat.

It'll be a joke if they don't get the death penalty. So it'll be a joke.

It's like a radio show said a few months back: "The NCAA was so mad at UNC that they punished Georgia Southern twice as hard."

They absolutely should get the death penalty, but even a ban from post season play for five years would appease me. More university leaders need to be vocal about Chapel Hill cheating.

If anything was going to happen to North Carolina... it would have already happened...

UNC should not only get the "Death Penalty" they should also be forced out of the ACC and not allowed to join another Power conference for at least 10-15 years. This is the school for at least 20 years had classes equivalent to Basket Weaving 101 and called it calculus. They should also have to vacate all wins and championships going back to when the NCAA can prove this started.

Here's the shocker though: It will never happen

Anyone that doesn't make the NCAA money in North or South Carolina better keep their nose clean for the next 5-7 years because the NCAA is looking to hammer someone there to distract from UNC.

They've spent over $18 million in legal fees to delay their penalties long enough to let Roy get a National Title. They'll just keep throwing millions of dollars at this until the NCAA makes it go away.

What about the Golden Boy Dean Smith. All of this started under his watch. Shame he isn't here to be shamed for it.

If any, and I mean any, non-Cartel University had conducted itself in the manner UNC has; the DEATH PENALTY would have already been IMPOSED!!!!!! The NCAA has no gonads if Emert does not (at the very least):
1. Suspend them from postseason play in all NCAA sports for five years
2. Cut their allotted scholarships in MBB by 3 per year and FB by 5 per year for 5 years.
3. Make them Forfeit any championships and all Bowl and NCAA Revenues received during their corrupted years as a Fine.

That's too light of a punishment.

I would absolutely love to see the hammer drop hard on UNC. I just don't see it happening. Much like the banks...too big to fail. NCAA is a cult of personality much like the NBA.

The NCAA is too scared of when the big boys make their break. They're probably terrified that if they do something to UNC it will hasten the departure from the NCAA. Football broke off many, many years ago. It's just when it happens in basketball.

They've been prepping us for it in the last several tourneys. Matching 2 smaller conference teams against each other in the first round. They don't want the upsets. They want big vs. big and taking out a good smaller conference team early helps with that.

They have to punish UNC but it won't be anywhere near what we want.

I'm already hearing there's negative chatter about Rick Stansbury coming out of the SEC about our recruiting. These schools won't take Rick coming in and snatching their players (in their opinion) right out from under them. I guarantee we're not doing close to what these programs do on an everyday basis. But that's not the point. They'll start taking shots at us. Mark it down.

And he whined about the length of the investigation being harmful to his program.

This whole mess could have been concluded years ago had UNC been forthcoming.

This N. Carolina academic fraud case has been going on since 2010. When will they finally get the severe punishment they've earned NCAA?
