Yes, the fans always showed up for this away game. It was an excuse to go to New Orleans.
Even that weren't an exaggeration(it is), you do know they only seat 30k now, right?
10k would be a great showing.
Yes, I know their new stadium only holds 30k. I am basing my numbers off when we played them in the Super Dome and we brought tons of fans. They only had a few of their own fans. These games will be sold out with roughly 60% stadium having Southern Miss fans.
You're the only USM fan who seems to think so, another one said that's more than you took to the New Orleans Bowl.
Again, 10k would be impressive.
There are so many alumni in New Orleans. 10k would not be any problem, especially if our rebuild back to USM football continues.

I went to three bowl games as a student, all on Christmas break, all considerably further from Murfreesboro(Detroit, NOLA, Mobile) than New Orleans is from Hattiesburg.

Same here, but I had to travel alone for two of them. Couldn't get anyone to go with me to the Armed Forces Bowl because it was two days before Christmas. So yes people like us would go, but the bulk of the students didn't.

That is great! I wish there were more like you. Sadly, we are in the minority.

Agreed the casual USM fan always tried to make this away game for an excuse to go to New Orleans. I remember talking to people years back that didn't even go to our home games, but went to the Tulane away game when we played them. Good point about the stadium being on campus now vs. the Super Dome being walkable from the French Quarter.

In a good year we could easily take 15k to Tulane. 20k is possible if we were having a really great year. Tulane fans don't count. There are only 8 of them. So if we had 20k that would make 20,008 in a 30,000 stadium. We had 15k at the N O bowl with a 6-6 record and all the Negative Nancy's running it down. Great time.

Getting people to a bowl game is different from a true road game. If we brought as many people to UNT as we did the HOD/AF Bowls, it would have been standing room only.
Not saying you won't take a nice crowd, just don't expect bowl game numbers.

If mtsu's cost of attendance index is similar to usm's, that will fill in the hole created by the loss of tv money plus the coa expense. We were able to do that with games at bama and auburn.

I'm not sure laughing at the idea of 20k traveling fans for a regular season G5 game in a 30k seat stadium qualifies as "attendance smack", especially when most USM fans in the thread agree that that is extremely optimistic at best...

it's a necessary evil......and to top it off, they might win the dayum game!
once upon, we did that on occasion....
I don't see how any lower tier program doesn't sell a one year game for USD every single freakin' year.....

Its not far fetched to think we wont have 20k in NOLA on that day. Getting more than 12 of them to buy a ticket and go to yuleman is the trick. Most will stay on bourbon st.
