It makes sense. Coach Fickell has been making the squads compete for the privilege of wearing the black uniforms during practice.

Wonderful but if we play on a hot sunny Saturday use the white with Red Hats as no good ever came from White Helmets.

I think we had a couple seasons under he who must not be named where we wore traditional black helmets in only two or three games all season. I got so sick and tired of seeing those lame Maction white helmets. Anyways, it's refreshing that only 4 months into this coaching staff they've already tapped into this and are erasing the remaining vestiges of the gang who couldn't shoot straight.

Thank god! That musical chairs uniform crap we were pulling under TT pissed me off to no end. If I never see a white UC helmet again it'll be too soon. Although I will miss black jerseys/white pants and Ring of Red combos. But hey, I'll take all black with a huge smile on my face.

I would be among the last to defend the Tuberville regime but I suspect UnderArmour was culpable in uniforms du jour last season to drive more merchandise sales. Win a bunch in black and go bowling and see what that does for merchandise sales.

To me, the single uniform element most critical to the UC identity is the black helmet. Other than a special edition in red on rare occasions, the C-paw on black is our brand. I've heard for years that college players want to wear black more than any other color. When we "own it" we of all schools should wear it proudly. When Butler and X copy and wear black on the basketball court, well, as they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

If I had to guess, I would think they will still have a single whiteout game, and a single ring of red game, with the other four games being all black. Which should always be the formula.

My guess is we will wear those alternative uni's with a black helmet for a Ring of Red. With respects to a white-out, I would not be surprised if the fans would be asked to wear white, but that does not mean the team will wear white.

They have to be reading these message boards, right?

This is my preference. I'm fine with an early season white-out during t-shirt weather and the Ring of Red game, but the other four should be all black head to toe. If they want to throw in a different helmet or pants on occasion, do it on the road.
