Another pickup for UNLV. Former Oklahoma State commit Amauri Hardy has committed to the Runnin' Rebels. Four-star guard.

2 players with D1 experience but not a young team. Here is what it would look like if all the players were 4 year high schoolers.

It is incredible that our entire roster of 11 players has a combined grand total of 3 years of D1 experience, but we only have 3 freshmen and 1 sophomore. That has to be the most bizarre combination of all time.
We have to be in the top 100 of the RPI and sign a top 40 class because our ceiling for this group is 2018-2019. 2020 is an almost complete rebuild.

Losing six players in one year is certainly less than ideal, but you have multiple positions there. That won't be nearly as bad as it was when we lost all four of our guards in one year.
So, we'll have at least three scholarships to use for the 2018 class that everyone has been waiting for, right? Wouldn't that make seven possible returnees for 2019-20. I mean, if you're losing six people the following year, why would you hold back any scholarships?
Two returnees is almost a complete rebuild. That's why we have the current imbalance. Seven returnees could be an entire rotation, and that's if none of the up-to-six freshmen coming in could crack it. I don't think it's anything to worry about, personally, but we'll see.

I'm ready for the season. I'll definitely need a program with all the new faces.

The Lawson's were good but they weren't very endearing.
Sometimes it's more fun to love a team giving it their all and represent our college in a positive manner.
Guys putting disrespectful crap on Snap/Twit/etc isn't who I wish to root for
I agree. Good coaches who stay on top of things have pretty much eliminated CURRENT players from doing this mess.
Also, the Tigers job is highly regarded despite what you guys think. Probably Top 30. It is so difficult to hire a name AND successful coach. When Florida hired Mike White, most casual CBB fans said WHO? Even a fair amount of Florida fans were unhappy with the hire.
Some thought I was critical of Mike White but all I was saying is that it is a massive step down from Billy Donovan to Mike White, the same way that it was a massive step down from Jim Calhoun to Kevin Ollie. It shows how hard it is to find a really good coach unless you are one of a dozen or so bluebloods.
Having said that, there are quite a few Mike Whites and Kevin Ollies out there for the taking, and our program offers a coach state of the art facilities, proven top 25 attendance, a national brand, fertile recruiting ground and the chance to turn things around and win very quickly.

I think the numbers will work themselves out and we will be able to sign at least 4 every season, which is fine. In theory, this isn't an issue. You have two players in the 2017 class that will be juniors by then and should be good D1 players.
The issue becomes the 2018 class. Unless we sign a bunch of players in the top 100, these players can't expect to be solid contributors until their junior season, which leaves us still in rebuild mode for 2020, which would be fine if 2019 we had a shot at the Sweet 16.
Quote:That won't be nearly as bad as it was when we lost all four of our guards in one year.
IF Black doesn't leave or Pellom isn't playing hurt, we had all the pieces to be a Sweet 16 team that season. Pastner went all in, which I didn't blame him for; we had the right personnel to go deep that season, and we were one win, or non loss away (Houston, UConn) from getting a better seed, and of course if we beat Virginia we would have accomplished that.
IF we manage to make it to the Sweet 16 that season, recruiting would have continued at a high level and we wouldn't be in the situation we are in now. It didn't work out, that's life.
