I'm surprised to see UNC at #2, even though ESPN will update this in a month or so when draft entrees are finalized and more late signings trickle in. Unless Jackson stays around they lose the starting front court of Meeks/Hicks/Jackson, along with Britt off the bench. I don't know if Berry is staying, and I had no idea Bradley could be a 1st round pick. Even if Berry and Bradley return, #2 seems high since they aren't bringing in a Top 10 class.
Color me skeptical of UVA being that good next year.
Bennett is a great coach, but they lose some key contributors to graduation and transfers. Yes, they've got a great recruiting class coming in, but I'd worry for them a bit if they can't find someone who can create their own shot at the end of games like Perrantes did for them.

We shall see.
That was a typo. They meant to put Virginia Tech Hokies. Somebody at ESPN needs to learn how to type!

That was my reaction. Assuming Berry and Jackson go early, that would leave a starting five of (freshman) Jalek Felton at PG, SG Kenny Williams (back from injury), Theo Pinson at SF and Luke Maye and Tony Bradley at PF, with very little bench beyond those guys.
Current mock drafts have Bradley as a first rounder, and Berry not on the radar. Bradley seems unlikely to hire an agent if he goes through the pro evaluation process, so it's possible both these players are around next year. If so, the Heels could have five veteran starters, with Felton, Seventh Woods and Brandon Robinson in an 8 man rotation.
That wouldn't be a bad team by most standards, but without much beef in the front court, it doesn't look like a Top Ten team to me.

You just don't get it. Mark is not talking about a single season, he's talking about a program. Look at the ACC alone.
UNC- 6 national titles
Duke- 5 national titles
UofL- 3 national titles
Miami- 3 Sweet 16 appearances, never made Elite 8
Calling Miami 2nd tier is actually being incredibly kind. The Canes are bottom three in the ACC in basketball program prominence historically. That doesn't mean Miami can't compete in the ACC in a single season, and you're bringing in a great class. How about making an Elite 8 first though and then let's talk.

Correct, recent history doesn't equal tradition.
You gotta cut green some slack...he seems like he is about 15.

ROCK CHALK
By my count, Duke loses more than 80% of its total minutes played, points scored and rebounds from this year's team. Other than Grayson Allen, returning scholarship players (5) accounted for a grand total of 414 minutes played, 111 points (out of 2991 total) and 97 rebounds.
They are going to need one heck of a freshman class to crack the Top Ten next year. They are still in the hunt for three more 5 star recruits to go with the three they already have. You have to figure K will get at least one, and maybe more of those uncommitted players, because he has a gazillion minutes to offer the incoming class. But that's still a lot to ask of unproven rookies.
#3 is looking overly optimistic for Louisville now. Matz Stockman transferring to Minnesota to play for JR. Jaylon Johnson now announcing that he's going pro, likely overseas. Donovan Mitchell likely headed for the draft. Deng & Mahmoud should be coming back though. Have a good class coming in but freshmen aren't usually impact players here. Mitchell is the key for next season.

Not to mention 3 transfers on the women team.
Even if Mitchell leaves we are still top ten. That's just more Playing time for our Young potential!!
FlossY Out...

If he's added to the class, that would likely push VT into a top 10 recruiting class overall to go with Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Wabissa Bede.
