4-star SF and former Seattle U signee Ar'Mond Davis is transfering from Alabama. He is a native of Tacoma.

Davis could wind up at Seattle or he could wind up following Dollar to Washington.

He is going to be redshirting at Alabama this year, I guess as a walk on, to graduate, then transferring for his grad year in 2018 apparently. Odd way to do it but he does have a good relationship with Avery Johnson, who even tweeted a thank you to Davis after he announced he was transferring

Hayford rounds out his staff with:

Chris Victor, his 2nd assistant at EWU
Nick Robinson, Southern Utah HC last 4 years
Ryan Mady, primary recruiter UCSB last 6 years
Jay Shiogi, retained from Dollars staff as director of operations

Seems like a decent staff. I hope SU will be competing with the big 3 for WAC titles soon!

Belated congrats to Seattle U. This is a great hire and one more piece of evidence for the general dreadfulness of the Big Sky. I'd love it if Idaho could come back to the WAC, but my school is run by morons.

Shame Idaho had to drop FBS. They would be a great addition to the WAC. It was cool to see them win a bowl game last year though.

Congrats on the hire. Looks promising. And from what I can tell on this thread, only one NMSU fan was dissing the hire. I think the rest of us are in support. The future looks bright at Seattle.

Thats just Frank being Frank. You will learn quickly.

Yeah, so far theres zero complaints about the hire. First player he offered at SU is a 3-star from Arizona too. No players are transfering yet and so far he has kept one of Dollar's signees, Aaron Nettles.

Dollar left a very young roster with skilled players who are raw. We will see what Hayford can do with them or if he can keep all of them. Hopefully the coaching change wont cause the team to take a step back from last year.

C - Aaron Menzies (RSJR) arguably the best center in the WAC, 12.3ppg 6.1 rpg but injury problems his whole career. Confirmed will not transfer.

PF - Scott Uleano (SO) showed flashes of greatness after coming to SU from Italy. Just was inconsistent for stretches of time. All the young Euro players though, wouldnt be at all suprising if he transfers. 4.4 ppg 3.2 rpg off of bench.

SF - Matej Kavas (RsSO) reigning WAC Freshman of Year, turned slow start in non-conference to scoring in double digets off the bench in all WAC games but five. 8.6 ppg 2.9 rpg

SG - Zack Moore (JR) was a walk on just put on scholorship and went from a literal liability on the court to starter. 10.3 ppg 3.9 rpg. Reportedly a "douchebag"

PG - Morgan Means (SO) true freshman from Comtpon was huge suprise last year. Started all season after Montoya got hurt. Will get better with age and looks like a future WAC 1st team player - if he stays. 6.7 ppg 2.7 rpg 2.1 apg

Bench:

Malik Montoya PG (JR) local guy, played like Means freshman year. But was hurt in 2016 WACt and missed almost all this past year. Also missed his senior year of HS with similar inuiry. Our only consistent perimeter defender but always hurt.

Jake Spurgeon SF (RSSo) hurt all last year like year before. Big unknown.

Mattia Da Campo SG (SO) young, raw bench player last year.

Marko Cuze PF (RSFr) redshirted first year.

Jack Shaughnesy SG (JR) not very good.

Luis Cosmos (SO) walk on

Aaron Nettles PG (FR) unevaulated local kid from Seattle Prep. Likely redshirts.

Could have stayed FBS and been like NMSU. Big Sky for olympic sports is still better than the WAC for UI though.

Marginally, although less than people assume. And it made it way too easy to backslide the football program into FCS. Hindsight is always 20/20 and I didn't say it at the time, but looking back on it I wish we'd never left.

Great, and quick, summary from Seattle Times on what Hayford has done in his time at SU so far. Put Zack Moore on scholarship his first day there too. Thought Dollar did when the season ended

http://www.seattletimes.com/sports/seatt...fer_sports

Hope the coverage from the Times continues like this. Not sure about GCU in Phoenix or UMKC in KC, but SU might be the only WAC school that gets consistent coverage from a major US newspaper, although it has gone down in amount in last 2 years. We used to have a beat writer and previews/recaps of every game
