Jordan Named CAA Pitcher-of-the-Week
RICHMOND, Virginia – UNCW senior Peyton Jordan has been named as the Colonial Athletic Association Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week for the week ending Mar. 26.
Jordan, who earned her third career Pitcher-of-the-Week award, led the Seahawks to a 4-0 record last week, including a three-game sweep over Drexel in their CAA opener. The Waxhaw, N.C., product compiled a 2-0 record with an impressive 0.27 earned run average in three starts.
In addition, she recorded 21 strikeouts against just five walks while allowing one run on eight hits in 26.0 innings of work.
After tallying a career-high 10 strikeouts in 12 innings against Campbell on Wednesday,
Jordan became the fourth pitcher in UNCW history to record a no-hitter when she earned a 3-0 win over Drexel in the CAA series opener on Saturday. She allowed just one walk while recording six strikeouts, including the 300th of her career to end the game.
Jordan completed the weekend by earning a complete-game victory to secure the series sweep after allowing one run on five hits.
According to Coach Kristy Norton, "Peyton has done a great job in the circle because she is filling the zone and trusting that her defense will get the job done behind her."
Jordan has fashioned a 10-2 record with a 1.03 earned run average, which ranks second in the CAA. She also ranks third in the league with 80 strikeouts in 102.0 innings.
The Seahawks, who are 21-6-1 overall and 3-0 in the CAA, complete their 16-game homestand on Wednesday, Mar. 29, when they welcome East Carolina to Boseman Field for a doubleheader at 4 p.m.
