Just wait until you year that Grobe is going to get paid more than Dambrot was supposed to get at UA this year

It's too be seen how his contract is structured. Illinois still owes him money for the 1st 2 years of this deal and his contract with Illinois has offsetting language so every dollar Akron pays him it translates to 1 less dollar Illinois has to pay him. I wouldn't be surprised if his contract is structured in a way that he'd make significantly more years 3-6 than what he will make years 1 & 2.

He should get more. He's got a winning record against Dambrot and his NCAA record (4-3) blows Dambrot's (0-3 with an average margin of defeat of 24 pts) out of the water. Being Mr. March is much more important than being Mr. February.

That's only relevant if you can GET to March.

How do you not get to March?

Full terms of the contract are in the link below. If Groce stays all 6 years he is guaranteed $3.3 million. The 1st 2 years he would make $350k per year and the last 4 he would make $650k per year. This is actually less than what it would have cost the Zips to pay Dambrot over these 6 years.

Jim Christian is having a hard time getting to FEBRUARY.

I don't think he has won a game in February or March the last two years at Boston College.

(And I was being kind. He never won a game in January, February or March, 2016).

Talk about a program in the toilet.

Here is another case where a program has gone into the toilet and they keep changing coaches. Gary Waters was probably the best of the recent coaches but he got the boot and it only made things worse.

Miami had an excellent hire relative to where their program has been. It's an A10 level coaching hire.

Then at the same time the MVC takes a punch in the gut with Wichita State leaving. They'll probably not do anything innovative with replacement schools.

This is a good offseason for the MAC.

Maybe long-term this will turn out to be a good off-season for the MAC, but at the moment it's a bit worrisome. Underclassmen leaving include Keene, Weathers, Simmons (probably), Robotham, and Antino Jackson. I guess we have to see how the second half of the off-season pans out - that is, the half where the hundreds of transfers land somewhere. If we get a bunch of high level grad transfers, maybe things will balance out.

Not to mention we as a conference graduated a pretty great crop of seniors.
