Well it just keeps getting better and better...

a key piece of the puzzle just committed to Western 6'2 G Jordan Brangers (juco) who had committed to Texas Tech switched to Western. This kid shot 46% on 3s (I might have that wrong) and hit over 130 of them in 28 games

If the below video is a true statement on his shooting range.....it's deep deep deep

Western is really lacking on shooters so as I said this is a huge get...probably a difference maker

I was hoping this kid would commit. I know it is only April and things could fall apart before October but the team Stansbury is putting together is pretty impressive. I'm shocked that is all I can say. 04-jawdrop

17/18 season is setting up to be special! Man what a bunch of talent coming in! Lamonte Beardon has to be licking his chops knowing he has a scorer at all positions to dish the ball to, just so many options which eliminates double teams and should make over all scoring more consistent

Stans sure can recruit, it's been amazing to watch and the hits just keep coming. Is it basketball season yet?

Not that everybody cares, but here is a link that shows all of WKU's incoming class with highlights. Its going to be a long off season.

And add Marek Nelson, small forward. Had offers from Kansas State and Utah State, interest from Memphis and Wichita State.

Agreed!

And while I don't want to speculate or be a debbie-downer, but sometimes things that are too good to be true, often are. I hope we are getting these guys cleanly.

It is going to be tough to mesh all this talent together. I expect a rocky start and a strong finish -- how strong, that is the question.

I'd ordinarily be perfectly willing to accept this preemptive excuse from a rebuilding team. But not from you guys. Not this year. You Hilltoppers had better well come right out of the gate fully ready to tear through your ooc opponents.

If, despite this extraordinary recruiting success, you guys decide to mess your diapers in November and December, and instead wait 'til conference play to actually gel, I (and I'm sure others) will consider you to be the indisputable disappointment of the conference.

Congratulations (sincerely) on a recruiting performance that have the rest of us envious. But you are on notice that this had better translate to immediate, non-conference success. We WILL be watching.

I'm in the same boat as you. The excuse time is over in year 2. No more losing to Detroit. No more losing to EKU. No more losing by 30 on the road. I expect some hiccups against good teams early (we play a good OOC). But this crap of wait til Feb. is over when these kind of classes start coming.

I'm really glad we have the overseas trip we can take that will help this team tremendously. I'm not too worried about starting slow since our point God is a rs jr. his expierience alone will negate a lot of that.

We will only have four guys on this team with any actual D1 experience. And only three guys that will have any experience playing together. I would like to think that this team will come together instantly and get some big nonconference wins and maybe it will. But that kind of lightning in a bottle just doesn't happen very often.

RE: Amazing! WKU has recruited above all this years Final Four Team!
Not having a team full of experience is the new norm in college basketball....

40% of all players transfer add to that Sr's leaving and most teams are young. This team will have games under their belt from the summer trip so that gives them a head start.

If a Little Rock can win 30 games replacing 8 (or was it 10) players their coaches first season. Then there is no reason this talented (paper talent and two 15+ point scorers) group can't win right off. 2015-16 only had JJ (So.) Ben & Snipes both minor role players and they won 18 games and lost 9 games by 5 points or less. So if this talented group isn't better than 2015-16...at least 5 ppg better something is wrong.

BTW this years schedule looks to be about as weak as last years... 213. You have to go back years to find a Western schedule that easy. On paper this year looks to be about the same depending on what happens in the Battle For Atlantis and that can help it a lot

Home Games: Belmont, Eastern Kentucky, Wright State, Indiana State, Nicholls State
Away Games: Austin Peay, Ohio, Wisconsin
Neutral Court: Battle For Atlantis

If you can't win the 5 home games and Peay and Ohio with this much talent and a head start of playing 5 or 6 games plus extra practice before the season starts then it's a disappointment.

There should be one other game added to the schedule

Wisconsin will be tough but this is the year you want to play them...they are replacing more than Western and Western's recruiting class is considered way better...not counting the 3 players (15ppg player and 2 6'9 kids..1 4 star) sitting out last year. So talent wise Western should be the better team

Battle For Atlantis...don't have a clue but we better win 1 of 3 at the very least

So losing 2 in the tourney and @Wisconsin puts you at 8-3 and that's without winning a game against a team that is with in 100 spots of you in the recruiting rankings. Probably 150 spots

If Little Rock can win 30 games....

anything under 24 wins will be a disappointment

Thanks Gunz. Most of the time I agree with your opinions, and I definitely do believe on this subject. With this type of supposed "talent", there is no reason for what we've seen the last several years.

I really think this is unprecedented at our "supposed level' or whatever the media now has labeled our conference the amount of talent we have coming in...Certainly we will be an interesting case study at least....Not sure how to research this, but if everyone player we have signed is here and ready to play in the fall, would be interesting to see a team on our "level" star wise to see if this has even been duplicated before? 1 5 star, 4 4 stars, and 3 3 stars.... Will that translate to wins?, I for sure would like to think so but certainly zero guarantee....Basketball is easier to "out talent" someone even with less experience...Now to put the whole conference on our shoulders in non conference and only have a few chances to succeed against high level teams is a bit unfair...No one else has those expectations and the reason CUSA has been sliding is everyone needs to win a few games non conference not just us...

I don't think there's any way in hell we come close to 24 wins.

I hope we do but have zero faith that we will.

Sorry, but don't expect to get that kind of leeway.

No question, ALL of us (except perhaps for Empty Sue) need to step up our mbb performance in 2017 nonconference play. CUSA should be at least a 10th-ranked (or better) rpi conference come January. That will require significant improvement at all levels.

The rest of us will be undertaking this challenge with 3*-and-under recruits. Hopefully, most of us will step up to the challenge. But the reality is that some of us won't, and in doing so we will have let down our conference mates.

You guys are different. You are coming into this season with an astounding level of talent -- "unprecedented", to use your words. A failure by the Hilltoppers to emerge from nonconference play with an equally "unprecedented" stature will be something more than a letdown.

No pressure. Just reality.
