Amen.

What happened to him? Alias, or out of line?

Wonder if now that he's gone, Bluto will come back. I don't think they got along because I never saw them together.

They were prolly brothers...you know how that can be. Some brothers just don't like each other.

That's what I was thinking too.

They are choosing interviewing playing with agents.

We aren't talking about Vinnie. We're talking Dedric ...right?

Dude, you are the guy that was all up in Pastner's jock at least through year six and now have stuck enough knives in his back to make Caesar feel underappreciated.

Your the worst kind of fan. I might not be a koolaid drinker, but I'm not going to viciously turn on a guy like you and others did.

I suppose one day, after Tubby gets your adulations, he'll get your wrath, too.

I was not "all up in Pastner's jock".
At one point...his teams WERE getting better. ANd by that..I mean they did more than they did the year before.
First year NIT. Second year...NCAA tourney, CUSA title etc.
I was all for giving him 1 more year the first year after we missed the tournament...to see if he could fix the situation. I thought he might make a smart hire like he had done with Cyrpien and Wilson in his first year.
His next year turned sour as well. And it was obvious by then that his recruiting pipeline that he had established here was dried up and gone.
People were transferring at a alarming rate.
So, like the majority of the administration...I was ok with him moving on...since as the Memphis coach...it was time for everyone involved to make a fresh start.

The University probably waited too long to pull that trigger. As a fan...I supported 'one more year' to see if he could fix things.
Austin getting injured had hurt the Tigers. I'm sure a team with a healthy Austin Nichols and Shaq could have made an interesting AAC tourney run for a chance to go the the NCAA tournament. Or at the least, the NIT.
I don't take pot shots at Josh Pastner (at least mean spirited ones anyway...I still like the man). I do not call him "Opie" or disparage him like that. SO I don't get where you say I've "stuck any knives in his back."
I am appreciative of the job he did here after Calipari left. It didn't work out for here for him in the end...and it was just time.
You on the other hand...have real nerve calling someone a bad fan. You are a cynical 'know it all'...who has been showed up several times.
You are a first class lousy human being to the nth degree.

I haven't looked at the timing of the injury and where we stood at that time, but I wouldn't be surprised if we would have made the tourney had Nichols not got hurt - NIT would'be been a lock. The drama and transfer may not have occurred either. So you could argue that the injury to Nichols is what really drove the Pastner departure.

You've got to be kidding. Thinking of going to the NBA and mama is doing the talking for him?

She didn't hold a press conference on her son's behalf. She was likely asked a question by the reporter and she answered it. If my son were 19 and in a similar situation, you can bet we'd be there to provide guidance and direction.

Agree, no problem with mom guiding/advising her son, but Dedra's best course is to not comment until they make a decision, IMO.

Also, Dedra is not known as being a wallflower. I was AAU events with my son a couple of summers ago, and when her sons team played, she was usually the loudest person in the gym.

With grandpa and uncle on radio and social media, there is a perception that the Lawson adults might be enjoying the kids fame a little too much. With her husband on staff, and two sons on team, next time we hear from mom should be to say either he's gone or he's back.

They could be like Lavar Ball.

Spoke briefly with Dedric Lawson's mother, Dedra, on Saturday. Said no decision has been made yet on whether Dedric Lawson is turning pro.

Dedra Lawson also said that Dedric Lawson won't declare for draft w/o agent. Either he'll be back at Memphis or sign w/ agent. No in between

I love it when parents speak for their adult children.

The kid is 19yo. Why is it wrong for a parent to speak on his behalf?

Its not. When I was 18 I hit another car from behind. Small damage but my dad spoke to the 'other side' to make certain my interests were llegally protected .

I guess so...seems like a lot of innuendo out there.

At least this is a public statement of denial to a degree.

Put it this way, if Dedric had not graduated early, he would be 19 and 1/2 years old right now as a Freshman. That would be very, very old for a Freshman.

So, by definition, Dedric is not that old for a Sophomore. Kind of a tweener, age wise. Certainly not an average of a full year younger than other Sophomores, like you imply.

I did the research. DraftExpress has 60 guys on their big board. FWIW, Dedric is not one of them, but they have a profile on him and project him as a late 2nd rounder in 2018. They have his current age at 19.5 years.

They have 11 sophomores listed. None are younger than Dedric. These sophomores average age is 20.4. They indeed average almost a full year older than Dedric.

18 freshmen are listed with an average age of 19.3. So Dedric is not far off the mean age of this year's freshmen. 7 of these freshmen are older than Dedric right now. Lonzo Ball was born the same month Dedric was. Josh Jackson has already turned 20.

The overall average age of all 60 guys is 20.7. Only 14 of these guys are younger than Dedric, 23%.

If Dedric were to wait until 2018 and the demographics of the past 2 drafts hold, then he would still be in the younger half of draft ages.

I think he's gone. I don't think his age is helping him much any longer - maybe a bit. The only point is he's still young for his class, and young for the draft. No other way around it.

Are there any stats as to how many college players that leave college early, actually stick in the NBA?

I bet the number is VERY small.

If I'm Dedric Lawson, and my family isn't living on the streets, I enjoy my final two years of college and then make as much as I can playing overseas for 10-15 years.

I say in the end all of them will be back at the UofM next season. Keelon makes 120K from Ive seen posted. Dedric MAY make 75K in the G league or whatever it's gonna be called ? And that's just speculation. It's probably more like 50K

Dedra Lawson being named coach of the AAU team this summer could be a sign

The uncle seems to like to talk

We'll see

At the end of the day and drama aside, I hope you are right as we need the Lawson talent on the roster. Without them, I can't see anything next year that I could describe other than "bleak."
