I really think it's going to be a very tight race to the top this year.

ULL, coastal, Texas state, USA, Troy and Ga Southern look really good so far.

To be fair, we've basically owned Texas State in baseball over the last 3 years. Won 8 of 10. Basically them and UALR have singlehandedly helped us finish top 8 the last 3 years.

We've got maybe one of the top pitching staffs in the conference and five guys batting over 0.300, but it's just not coming together.

We're a very "hot" team at the moment . . . But we still have a lot of baseball to play, and for us some tough competition on the road: UL, Troy, and S. Ala..

We're a little better than where we were at this time last year, but we did not play well in the second half of that season.

If we can be consistent, and handle what will be some tough road games, then we could be a club that makes some noise . . .

Speaking of not coming together, Coastal has one of the best group of arms in the country and has not played to potential. We've shown flashes of dominance but are inconsistent. The way we let TX St score six or seven runs in the final innings to take game three last weekend was beyond frustrating.

We didn't play any midweek games and had the whole week to reflect and improve. Looks like we're going to get the sweep on the Red Wolves today. The pitching has been dominant this weekend. I really hope this is a permanent improvement and not another false since of hope.
