The British logic for police is somewhat bizarre. Cops do not carry guns but they all wear Kevlar vests.

Is it because they let the military operate on their home soil? Someone shot the guy, so if it was not a cop, then I suspect it was a soldier.

Fox News reporting it's the one year anniversary of the Belgium attack .

On the morning of March 22, 2016, three coordinated suicide bombings occurred in Belgium: two at Brussels Airport in Zaventem, and one at Maalbeek metro station in central Brussels. Thirty-two civilians and three perpetrators were killed, and more than 300 people were injured.

Don't know if they have a Posse Comitatus rule but I'm pretty sure they do have police armed during tactical events.

I should have been clear, the beat cops aren't armed.

Oh I totally get that, I was just "thinking" "out loud". I'm like 99% sure they don't have "a Posse Comitatus" rule. Ours stems from their abuse when we were colonies.

FoxNews / Sky News - At least one dead and a number of others with catastrophic injuries. Anti terrorist police are now looking at a car with suspicious package inside.

Regular police officers are not armed, but Scotland Yard has their version of what I guess would be a SWAT team here, and they are armed to the teeth.

Need to remember that UK Citizens usually can't own guns, so the need for regular police officers to be armed is much lower. My guess is the Kevlar vests are more to protect officers from knife wielding suspects because they have a fair number of stabbings.

RE: London under attack
For a terrorist attack, this one appears to be not well planned out. Probably a lone wolf situation considering the few deaths and the low injury total compared to some of the other attacks in Europe.

You would have preferred the "attack" to have more carnage and death to be considered a real attack on London?

Looks bad on TV. SkyNews is calling it a major event? I hope you're right though.

SkyNews just confirmed it is a terror attack.

Or a Tory MP introducing a bill regarding bathroom usage by transsexuals.
