Nice! Clemson is now tied with Duke for 2nd place in the ACC at 7-3.

Clemson is also # 5 in the RPI.

Great to see Brownell put it together this year. Ending January second in the ACC is a great position, and with their RPI they could play themselves into a 4-5 seed in the NCAAT.

Looking ahead, they really need to win on Saturday in Winston-Salem. Beyond that, they have trips to VT and FSU coming up that will be tight contests, and a big home game against Duke 18Feb.

UVA is going to run away with the conference now, I believe and Bennett will probably get COY, but Brownell and Keatts are going to finish 2nd and 3rd.

How nice is it to see former UNCW coaches take down the Tarheels back to back?

It's good to see ANYONE take them down back to back but this certainly adds a level of sweetness!

NCSU just smoked Florida State and guaranteed a winning record in the ACC, standing 10-6 with two games left. Currently tied with Clemson for 4th. place. Games remaining are against GT and Louisville. Can't imagine they don't get an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. Keatts will get votes for COY in the ACC, no doubt.

We will see how it shakes out. I see UVa winning on Saturday by 10. Keatts style is good at home,no doubt. It's good to see the hometown team not suck. If they go .500 in the ACC, I'd be impressed. I don't see that.

.500 in the ACC? Absolutely above that. They have a great PG, great interior play, and they are turning teams over just like Keatts did at UNCW. They will also be getting their suspended guard back for the rest of the year. Top 5 is my prediction.

Just for fun....

They have proven they can beat anyone, but also lose to anyone.

Who cares. Only good thing is that he used to coach UNCW and they’ll likely mention our school for a couple years if he remains successful.

If he goes down in Louisville flames... meh.

We got championships and good times from him. That era is gone and done. Time to move on.

Amen to that. 57 pages....enough is enough.

And I'll pile on a little more. I still root for Brad Brownell, and would not mind one iota a thread about him. Not so for Kevin Keatts. Anyone who cares enough to find out why can PM me about it if they'd like.

RE: Keatts to NC State
We had threads about Brownell for years after he left. I am enjoying the success of a former UNCW coach just as we did Brownell and as we have players who came and went. Sorry we have a few posters who don't like him, that doesn't mean everyone else has to "move on".

Hmm. Why aren't I hearing the same thing about McGrath as the long time assistant at UNC who is named in the current FBI scandal?

1 player named in the scandal Vs. whacked for significant NCAA violations while he WAS on the lock at Louisville. Hell, he just had his championship ring ripped away from him

RE: Keatts to NC State
A highly doubt McGrath and any UNC staff member had any connection to the recent FBI probe into NCAA basketball. I am aware that UNC has a couple former players that received meals from an agent, but those are secondary violations at best. There is no way anyone on the staff would've known that was happening. Let's be real for second... is a 100 dollar meal payed for an agent going to determine what college a top recruit goes to. (No)

In Keatts' case, I never understood how he got out of the prostitution scandal since he was the top recruiter for Louisville when that happened. The Adidas scandal that got Pitino fired was caused by Kenny Johnson (Keatts' replacement when he came to UNCW.) So if you're waiting for the ball to drop on Coach Keatts, you're going to waiting for a while.

Everyone needs to let bygones be bygones. You have your entitlement to whatever you like in regards to how he handled his exit. However, we should all be grateful for what he did for our program.

Perhaps you should try reading the reports.

Is Keatts mentioned? I've read them and haven't seen his name yet. I do know that UNC is named specifically in the FBI pay for play scandal and McGrath has been there since the beginning. Are you unwilling to speculate and accuse, without proof, in the same manner when it comes to McGrath?

The only thing i remember now is setting us back 3 years at his exit, and negotiating his State contract when he should have been preparing his team to face UVA in the tourney. But hey, who am i 05-mafia

The NCAA FBI investigation is at the beginning. Let's see what happens.

For the record, i'm not about accusing anyone without any facts. Just pointing out your hipocrisy.

I think the NCAA is going to catch up with Keatts one way or another. Maybe not due to anything of his own doing, but the stuff with Gottfried and DSJ has to be worrisome for the Pack. I doubt it would be anything crippling though.

I'm the farthest thing from a UNC apologist. There is no hypocrisy, you are comparing apples to oranges. One school which our former unnamed coach was at had significant sanctions laid down, one(unfortunately) did not.
