Are we practicing? Haven't heard anything.

As our coaches continue the Tom Amstutz School of Paranoia, we fans have no opportunity to see the team and ticket sales decline.

Yes. The lack of spring football updates is the reason why ticket sales have declined. Personally, I thought it was because of all of the midweek MACtion games.

I'm gonna miss the spring game. My kids loved it. Sadly we'll probably not renew our season tickets, because of the lack of Saturday games. It will be a game by game decision. Sometimes a package like the fan plan is a better deal than single tickets. Is the fan plan still alive?

If there isn't then the Blade beat reporter should ask Candle exactly why not when most all the other schools do. Ask why he wouldn't want to promote the program but most importantly develop players under game like conditions.

Since they started practice a month early they probably thought the weather would be a lot less predictable. We've had snow in mid-April, let alone mid-March. But, now there is an extra of month of no football until August. Not sure how beneficial that will be.

There is...I received an invite...think it's just open to ex-players and the families of current players. I threw it away...think it's the 25th.

You can still have closed practices with some public availability based on Weather

Again. Paranoia.

After the disappointment with the outcome of the last few seasons expressed by many on this board (myself included), maybe it's time for a different approach to spring practice and preparation for the season.

RE: Spring FB-Homestretch?
Alienating the fan base further is not the way to go. Just a simple generic spring game minus a lot of the contact would have been appreciated. Also, having a youth football clinic before or after game would be beneficial to all involved (Rocket football program and prospective UT student athletes).

I'm disappointed that their won't be a spring game. Coach Candle has said nothing about the team good or bad, but, go to Iowa state's web site and listen to coach Campbell take about his team. He has an interview every week, keeping his fans and university informed about his team, this is what a good coach does to keep the fires burning and people talking about the up coming season. Coach Candle reminds me of coach Beckman, nothing said until the team comes out for the first game. If the team goes 12 - 0, I may change my opinion of Candle, but, remember this season and next are coach Campbell's kids.

The message I'm receiving is that the fan is no longer relevant. MACtion
is more important than the fan experience. Having no spring game or one that we're not invited to tells me I've made the right decision in dropping our season football tickets after many years. We choose one or maybe two Saturday games a year to attend.

Apparently there WILL be a game as a friend, and former UTfootball player tells me he received an invite. I hope the powers that be address this issue-it smacks of elitism or something. Not like we can afford to alienate fans.

With the early spring ball, i'm sure it is indoors and the invite list being limited is due to the capacity of the IPF. Having thrownback a few with some of our former players back in the day, calling it elitism might be a stretch.

They are having an alumni get together with the coaches Friday night in the Grogan room and then having Spring game Saturday morning. Apparently weather will dictate were they play the game. Maybe because of the "early" Spring game this year, they didn't want to chance having to play outdoors if the weather was bad. I guess, not having the game open, allows the HC some flexibility.

How about bringing back the alumni to suit up for one game against the present varsity squad.
