NCAA Tournament
What happened to Providence? I saw they had a 15 point lead on USC at halftime but then ended up losing the game.

Anyway, the Friars had a nice season. The Big East coaches had originally picked them to finish 9th in the conference standings. So to make the tournament (4th year in a row) was quite an accomplishment.

today is a huge day for the big east. got 3 games and 2 of them are nova and Butler- absolute must wins. The big game of course is Xavier/Maryland.

tomorrow is the tough day- Seton Hall/Arkansas, Rhode Island/Creighton, and Marquette/South Carolina.

RE: NCAA Tournament
great to get 3 wins- but 2 of the games were pretty big mismatches.

Friday and Saturday are the huge days IMO....
Friday-
Creighton/Rhode Island
Seton Hall/Arkansas
Marquette/South Carolina
Saturday-
Villanova/Wisconsin
Butler/Middle Tennessee
Xavier/Florida St

Sunday if they win-
Creighton/Oregon
Seton Hall/UNC
Marquette/Duke

So the next 2 days are really important.

RE: NCAA Tournament
it still would likely be an upset to get an elite 8 team. Xavier gets Arizona and Butler could easily get UNC. Both obviously really good teams.

RE: NCAA Tournament
Butler and Xavier have made it okay. 3 teams in the round of 32 looks shaky. 2 teams in the Sweet Sixteen is about where we should be (10/75 BCS conference schools = 2.16/16).

Butler, Creighton and Xavier - the additions to the C7 to reorganize the Big East - have developed into the backbone of the conference. They are always reliable and steady to perform well when we need a team to. They have really allowed the Big East to remain one of the best basketball conferences in the country. t.

RE: NCAA Tournament
I love the Big East because it feels like a "real" conference. The "Power 5" have that same feeling at the core of the conference but have a commercialized feel and look to them (he core 10 of the B1G, the core 10 of the SEC, the core 10 of the PAC, the old Big 8, etc.). I know money talks, though. The Big East picking up Creighton, Xavier, and Butler stuck to the root of the Big East without selling out.

RE: NCAA Tournament
At the beginning of the season, I would have guessed that Creighton and Villanova would be the last two Big East teams standing this time of year. They did end up playing in the Big East Championship game. But it's been Xavier and Butler instead. Butler has a tough matchup against North Carolina tonight.

RE: NCAA Tournament
Great run by Xavier in the tournament with wins over Maryland, Florida State and Arizona.

Butler and Xavier lose this weekend to 1 seeds (North Carolina & Gonzaga)

The Big East finishes with a record of 31-23 against the P5 conferences. The record last year was 34-21.
