Trump To Challenge Obama-Era “Environmental” Fuel Standards…
Another stupid Obama law bites the dust.

Quote:Moving forcefully against Obama-era environmental rules, President Donald Trump is set to announce in Michigan plans to re-examine federal requirements that regulate the fuel efficiency of new cars and trucks.

Trump is expected to reveal his plans during an appearance Wednesday at the American Center for Mobility in Ypsilanti, Michigan, where he’ll challenge emissions targets that were a centerpiece of former President Barack Obama’s strategy to combat global warming. The rollback underscores the Trump administration’s rejection of mainstream climate science in an effort to boost economic growth.

The center, about 30 miles west of Detroit, was used to produce B-24 bombers during World War II and is being converted into an automotive testing and product development center. During his visit, Trump is expected to meet with auto executives and workers and discuss “how his plans for rolling back federal red tape will lead to more American jobs and higher wages, specifically in the automobile sector,” Press Secretary Sean Spicer told reporters.

What about getting rid of those fuel standards would automatically create jobs?

It will reduce costs, thus allowing more future sales of automobiles. It won't create jobs, but it will likely save a lot of them.

Probably a few hours away from another stay from a Hawaii court.

They aren't going to save any jobs. Companies in other countries will find ways to increase the gas mileage, among other things. And the US auto industry will be back to having their old issues of not being competitive. And we'll end up having to bail them out again.

Other countries seem to be more interested in cheating and skirting the law than anything else. I say let the market decide.

Our own companies are pretty good at cheating and skirting the law too. The problem is that it leads to basically no energy policy at all other than drilling for oil and building pipelines wherever the hell we feel like. Which means, 30 years from now, we'll be in the same spot or worse. And the rest of the world will have passed us up.
