Alabama has agreed to pay the Aggies $1.7 million
In addition to the extra game, Alabama has agreed to pay the Aggies $1.7 million dollars to travel to Tuscaloosa. This is a pretty nice payout for just one football game and will be a huge boost for the athletic department trying to keep an independent football team afloat.

Wow, I was impressed with A-State getting a little North of $1.5mm

This is getting a little crazy. I'm glad that they are getting the money, but why are a few SEC schools paying so much more than normal market of $1mm to $1.2mm?

This should help fuel home and home games between G5 and P5 as 2/3 or more can not justify paying this much for a game.

Costs of rehab for the two weeks after the game.

I'm sure FCS Idaho will be playing there for a cool $400K soon.

That's chump change for Alabama. I bet Nick Saban spends that much on a weekend fishing trip.

MORE CRAZINESS:

WKU will receive $1.9 million for playing the game, the most it’s ever been paid by an opponent.

http://www.bgdailynews.com/sports/wku/hi...a391b.html

I can see Alabama maybe.... but Auburn?

I guess the new reality is that you get paid $1.5mm to $2mm to play an SEC school.

This discredits the whole "they won't schedule XXX because we may beat them" myth:

"Since 2012, WKU has picked up three victories over SEC opponents."

WKU also has future non-conference games scheduled with Illinois, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, Louisville and Indiana and now has three of four non-conference games scheduled for the 2022 season.

Yeah OK. For a lot of schools there is no fear. Kentucky has played WKU (and lost twice, lol) recently. But for Alabama and Auburn, they will play anyone in the world except us. Go check out the instate schools they've played. It's a long list, and we're not anywhere close to being on it.

To be fair, I don't see us playing Jacksonville State anytime soon, even though I would LOVE to play them.

How many of those three wins were against Vandy or Kentucky?

Thanks to NMSU for setting the bar higher for the rest of the (so-called) "G5". As for Auburn and Alabama ever playing Troy, USA, UAB (once they've built their power back to where it was) and probably even Jacksonville State now that they gave Auburn everything that could handle, the chances are ZERO. Sure they play instate schools but they are always traditionally weak FCS programs. That doesn't stop Coach Saban from bragging about playing instate schools though.

This is one of the reasons I hate and despise Bama. Bama doesn't want this money to be used by other programs in the State. I believe Bama has played every if not almost every other SB team BUT USA and Troy. Cowards!!!

Ummm... they agreed to pay Arkansas State 1.7 million a while ago.

You will NEVER see Alabama or Auburn play Troy, UAB, or South Alabama. They will play the FCS schools like Jacksonville State and Samford, but they won't play the FBS schools. Heck, Troy has been around over 100 years in football and have never played Alabama or Auburn. UAB has been around since the mid 90's and has never played them either.

Auburn won't be playing JSU anytime soon seeing how they needed a miracle to beat them. And you can forget Troy playing them ever.

But isn't it pretty much so for all sunbelt in state schools. I know GS has played Ga but I think it was scheduled before the Eagles move to FBS. So time will tell if they get GA to schedule them.

If we ever play UGA again, it'll most likely be in the access bowl so never

Alabama makes about $4.6 million per home game in just ticket sales. If they split the gate with the opponent, it would be $2.3 million.

We're getting 1.8 from Bama. I believe Nebraska is the one giving us just north of 1.5
