In other news, one of our weekend guys, Ricky Salinas (most experienced but probably not best), is having TJS on Thursday so is out for the season.

On a more positive note, our second basemen Tristan Gray (who hit .295 last year with 5 home runs) is returning to the team after some academic issues.

Southern Miss hosts Columbia from the Ivy League Tues night and Weds afternoon.

USM is not starting Taylor Braley on the mound tonight and he hasn't been announced as the starter tomorrow, so I guess Berry may be saving him for relief against LaTech.

We may use 4-5 pitchers a night, hopefully jump out to a big lead and can put some young guys in there that we won't need this weekend.

Columbia is too competitive to just go thru the motions. I hope this doesn't turn into an Oakland fiasco.

USM misses a chance to take a big lead in the 1st. Had the bases loaded with 0 out but only get a Sac Fly before grounding into a DP.

Braley was hit on his pitching hand recently and the coaches are giving it more time to heal. My guess is he will pitch tomorrow night if his hand is better.

Southern Miss wins despite hitting into a near record 6 double plays...4-3 over 0-8 Columbia.

Big 4 games over next 5 days for Tech. Biggest weekend test thus far in USM and arguably the biggest midweek test vs ULL. Looking to compete in every game and get 2+ wins. If its only 2 then I hope it's against USM. Glad we will be at home. There are some really good baseball teams between Louisiana and Mississippi.

We haven't got in stride yet at USM, so I think Tech takes 2 out of three this weekend. CUSS screws up scheduling again in have this series early in the year rather than late.

Columbia is not a bad team though their record looks like they are. They have started the season with a BRUTAL schedule. #5 Florida (13-5), South Alabama (9-8), MS St (12-6) and Southern Miss (12-4) all on the road.

ODU off to a 12-4 start. Game 2 vs VMI canceled today due to wind chill's in the teens. May make it up later at Lexington. End of the ridiculous home stand is looming, but not before Rice comes into town on the weekend.
