MAC Hoops Postseason Whiparound
Best of luck to the following MAC Teams who will be competing in post season tournaments starting this week.

Ball State has accepted a bid to the CIT and will take on the Fort Wayne Mastadons on Wednesday night on the road.

Toledo will play George Washington in the CBI (I believe a home game).

The MAC Runner - Up Akron Zips will travel to Houston on Wednesday to participate in the National Invitational Tournament.

Did other MAC teams get possible post season bids but turned them down?

Buffalo turned down a bid. I assume Ohio U did as well. Probably no others invited.

Once again the Las Vegas 16 (only 8 teams signed up last year) couldn't get enough teams. The tournament was cancelled. I think the fans and the schools have finally reached their limit in meaningingless tournaments.

Akron with a nice win over Houston in the first round of the NIT. The Zips move on to play at UT Arlington next week. They have a legitimate shot to make it to Madison Square Garden. Ahh the NIT.

Toledo falls just short against George Washington in the CBI Tournament despite a big game from Sophomore Jaelan Sanford (25 points/3 assists/0 turnovers) and Ball State couldn't get it done in the CIT against Fort Wayne.

Jon Jon Williams was suspended for the UT game. And so it ends.

The Zips loss in the JV Tournament puts a wrap on the 2016 - 2017 MAC Basketball Season.

Lets hope that the Golden Flashes can build on the momentum of the MAC Tournament and NCAA appearance and re-establish Kent State as the premiere program in the con-fer-ence. The big question that I have is whether there is enough front - court talent on the roster as it stands or if shopping for another post is high priority. As Coach Lucas said, "you gots to have the bigs."

Wyoming men's hoops program lost nearly $75K playing in CBI. Makes you wonder if these low tier post-season tournaments are worth it. Wasn't for Wyoming. But hey, they can add a tournament championship to their résumé.
