Georgia Tech hired Pastner, Missouri has a similar mess

Didn't a former Tiger put his daughter's name on a new basketball arena or building or something in the last ten or or so years? Do you think that former Tiger would want Tubby at his wife's alma mater?

Why is it assumed we'd get somebody better?

If Tubby leaves, it won't be a reflection so much on him, but rather the management of the program at Memphis & atmosphere in which a coach works.

Atmosphere has nothing to do with the terrible losses we have had this year. 40 to SMU and 30 to UCF. There is practically no school where that would be okay...

8-4 / 9-3 Mid-major while bb actually had a chance to be relevant and play for something meaningful.

I would love to be a football school, but we'll have to stay within 3 TDs of Western Kentucky before discussing that possibility.

If you think empty arenas have nothing to do with the outcome, you must not have attended many games. But there's a lot more behind the curtain than there is out front in this "atmosphere" thing. No team folds like that for no reason, and nothing that we know for certain is a good enough reason. This off season will be revealing to say the least.

Memphis fans already tired of Tubby shouldn’t hold their breath he’ll leave. Rumors he’s looking around, I’m told, are not reality-based

Right. It's wishful thinking.

Wolken clarified these tweets on the GP show this afternoon. He said the rumors were likely based on the situation with Tubby's contract and him not having signed it yet. He said Tubby isn't going anywhere because no other school that he would consider leaving for is going to throw him a lifeline.

He's a tired, 67-year-old coach. This is likely his last stop. Unfortunately, I think Memphis is in for at least 3-4 years of Tubby ball.
