I thought going in to this year that if we could be on the bubble that would be a good year. And for awhile that looked possible. The early success did maybe overly raise the hopes of the fan base. Those two loses to Temple were killers.
Next year will be no different, we all want to make the tournament. TS needs to understand this.

Where were all of these high expectations three years ago? Where was the outpouring of rage and innuendo when we failed to win against a top 25 team in seven seasons or make it to the NCAA tourney the last two seasons? I ask, where in the hell were these "high" expectations then?

I think you need to put on your reading glasses because they have been here the whole time and have never left. The criticism Tubby is getting is light compared to what Pastner got.

Not in the first year

Tubby didn't almost beat #1 Kansas either. Pastner almost overachieved his first year here.

You put the right guy in the head coaching spot and that can happen.

Tubby was a bad fit. He can't excite the base. He can't recruit and I think his coaching is pretty overrated.

You get a guy in here like Buzz or Forbes and there will be a lot more excitement and butts in the seats.

Forbes ain't getting any butts in seats. No one is coming to see him. Attendance would be the same with him - wait and see. Start winning and they'll come back. The only immediate attendance bump would require a big name. Forbes ain't it.

Forbes recruits. That gets butts in the seats if his name won't.

I think the pay is more like top 20, but agree with the point you're making. As long as we include timing and state of the program upon arrival. Need to hit the rankings by year 3.

Yes, great post!

I agree. Attendance won't be fixed by a hire that we can make.

Come on, Blu...
You know we're not saying that at all. Any 1st yr coach needs time and to get the kids acclimated into his system. Let's get it...Tigers!

The team is going to be less than great for at least another year or two.

So, what do you have to sell in that situation? Hope.

A great incoming recruiting class coupled with at least some amount of selling by the head coach would increase attendance.

"Come support the process."

The very first rule of selling anything / closing any sale is to ASK THE CUSTOMER TO MAKE THE PURCHASE. - Tiger BB needed all hands on deck to sell the program to a disillusioned fan base.

No one is saying that. Well, I guess you did. But no one else.

We're saying he's a winning coach who knows how to run a program. Maybe this will be the only school in his career where he doesn't get them on track. But it's more likely to expect the opposite.

What we're saying is give him time to prove. First year, with the state we're in, is not enough.

Well said. People are far too quick to toss around the "He can't...." stuff.
