New roster posted...
With the new roster posted, I think we have 6 scholarships available. I'm hoping we can sign a few grad transfer guys.

Interesting that French moved back... DT is an area of need and reports last year said he was a beast before the injury. He must be in the mix to play OL...
Culp got injured and left a while back.

RE: New roster posted...
Height and weight has been updated too.
A lot will change between now and the USC game, but we appear to have great size in the trenches.
The incoming freshmen haven't been added yet, but it is just so worrying to see only 5 scholarship LBs on the roster. So much turnover there the past few years. DBs on the other hand are stacked! We've got a solid 3-deep there. We should also have a really good 2-deep at DL. If we can get a grad transfer LB or something, defense as a whole could be very good. I just worry we might have to rely on them too much this year.

Maybe Lester will go with heart over measurables, ala Grant DePalma and inserts Alex Grace. Starting against USC and MSU should prepare the young man for the rest of the season.

Trust me, Alex can play, has the measureables and the heart.

Alex Grace has a full 4 inches on DePalma and was an all-state running back in HS. I have no doubt about his athletic ability. I'm pretty excited to see what both he and Drake Spears can do in an expanded role.

I agree on Grace & Spears. I think they both have a ton of potential. Stinks that Spillane left, but we should have 4 capable LB's in Bailey, Asantay Brown, Grace, & Spears and a ton of freshmen coming in.
Anybody know if the Rutgers transfer, Na'Jee Clayton, is still in the picture for 2018? He doesn't appear to be on the roster.

Transfers typically aren't on the roster during the year they sit out.

I just noticed that LB Paul Engram is no longer on the roster. He never made a peep while he was here, but still sucks from a depth standpoint, especially at a position where our depth is relatively weak. Opens up another scholarship spot, though.
I always wondered how well his game would transfer to the next level. He was only 5'10" and he played at D7 Detroit Loyola. I guess it just didn't work out.

Definitely an indicator as to why we are still offering LB's with 5 coming in and 3 committed.
