Basketball Win Over CMU a False Positive
I know, I know, some of you will be angry with the downer talk. I am happy that we won but the competition was terrible. CMU should fire that coach, period! However, since he's won the MAC a short couple of years ago, I'm sure he's safe.
Back to the thread, my feelings about a new direction for MBB remain unchanged. Although Lee and Mangum had phenomenal games, most certainly they can't duplicate those performances. I mean Lee dribbled up the court and launched 30footers with a defender on him. I don't believe Steph Curry himself could have shot better than Lee. The reality is, only a great player could have done what Lee accomplished, but it's impossible to repeat what we saw yesterday. Murphy didn't coach Lee into making contested 30 footers, it was all Lee.

Coach Murphy has a talented roster that should have won the MAC. However playing street ball will lead to an L when we play against a team with a decent coach. In Murphy's 6 years, his Offense has yet to consistently manufacturer shots for great players like Lee, Mangum, Ward, Brown, etc

I didn't want to be a downer, but sheer talent won the last two games not strategy.

Go EMU!

Meh. Happy with the win and beating CMU is never something to call a false positive.

And did we need a new thread for his stream of consciousnesses?

Go EMU!

Your post would be more credible if you had simply said, "Lee's performance was an outlier which we aren't likely to see again."

And I think we'd all agree, but since EMU led by what 45 points in the 2nd half what can we say, Lee did not need to score 50 points in a 45 point win (and he sat a lot in the 2nd half).

Back to the thread,...

Luckey, you are entitled to your opinion but not your facts. You are having trouble with your CMU facts:

CMU finished 12 - 6 in 2014/15, a three-way tie for the best record.

They got the double bye to the semis and beat TOL but lost to BUFF in the finals.

They lost in the NIT to La. Tech, opening round.

Good season, yes. But they neither won the tourney nor an undisputed MAC regular season. They did win the MAC West.

That year was crazy: Five teams finished 12 - 6 or 11 - 7. Very different than this year.

Just enjoying another win over CMU. No need to read more into it than that.

Amen. And a senior of ours had a career night that got him some national attention. Let's just be happy for a change. We can go back to griping if we stink it up against Toledo.

One thing about Lee.

His draft stock, reputation, etc. was pretty low, I think we all agree.

I think it was Chad who said there were 3 NBA scouts at the game to watch the Keene.

Man, if I were a NBA scout, Lee's performance Tuesday night earned him a free agent contract and a trip to summer ball in Vegas (or where ever it is held).

That raw talent I saw Tuesday night was incredible. One of the best one game performances of the MBB season.

He could have challenged Steph Curry to a game of horse after the game. Lol.

Sigh.

If Lee scores 50, it's "should have used him all those games"
When Lee goes 1 for everything, it's "coach didn't motivate anybody"

And if they watched the toledo game they would have saw what he does normally. He hasn't and isn't any nba stock. Once he makes a bad play or a refs call doesn't go his way he's toast.07-coffee3
