Do you honestly think Frazier or Compher are/were any different than any other AD? Every mid major AD has one eye on a better job at some Point. Before you blast Frazier try taking a look around the MAC, not just dekalb. It's no different. It's like half of the crazies here expect NIU to always get the Jordan Lynch of ADs. And the Jordan Lynch of coaches. You all want the top guy for a steal because everyone missed getting him but the Huskies(obviously we are smarter and better than others). We have average ad money. Average coach money. You get average ads and coaches with that money. NIU is not special to anyone but the few fans who's expectations are way beyond the realities in front of their faces.

Well the fact you guys are satisfied with the state of this program says a lot about your expectations, If you are happy with the D3 route Frazier is wanting to take NIU, you better darn well not argue when our homecoming game is against Illinois State every year.

We have a D3 fan base. So that seems about right.

Yep we do now. Not blaming this all on Frazier, the problem began with the ESPN deal, but like Huskietap22 astutely pointed out, this problem falls on all individual institutions, both past and present. This is what a death spiral looks like, and it is a shame to watch.

Time for him to go. All the years of building NIU football from the "dark days" just crumbled with this BULL S**T 2 sat. home game schedule. 03-banghead

This is not Frazier's fault for the 23734576234053609th time. This is the MAC's fault for bending over to ESPN.

+100000

This is squarely on ESPN. You think Sean Frazier likes games on Tuesday and Wednesday? NO ONE DOES. The MAC sold its soul to ESPN, and the consequences have been two fold. "More Exposure" sure, but the talent hasn't gotten better in the conference. And it has gutted the MAC fanbases, you can't sustain a football program if no one goes to the games, and the ESPN contract doesn't come close to offsetting those missed costs. And when you make it impossible for alumni, students, and fans to go to games, you lose donors each and every year. It's pretty simple. I hate the MAC to my core for this terrible deal.

Is it Frazier's fault? Directly, no.

However, unless I've missed it, I've seen him talk more in public about a stupid G5 playoff than I've seen him speak out about this awful ESPN deal. At some point, if he's not doing something to fight against it, he is part of the problem.

Yea, very true.

Do all of you remember when STF did "schedule-palooza"? And he was telling us our OOC opponents would be better? (and he did get us some decent OOC schools to play: BC, Nebraska for example) Well, at that time we had about 4 Saturday games & STF was telling us he would get us MORE Sat. home games. He said he would get us 5 or even possibly 6 home Sat. games. Am I the only one who remembers this?
That's why I put some of the blame on him. Instead of more Sat. games...we have TWO now. (Yea yea I KNOW it's the MAC's scheduling so don't tell me that)
ALL of the schools should be screaming at the MAC about this BS schedule. Weeknight games have increased so much it's ridiculous. At this rate we (and all the other MAC schools) will end up next year with ZERO Sat. games!

You people who are young have plenty of time to wait & ride this out. I don't have that luxury. I don't know how many more years I might have that I can travel to DeKalb for games. I LOVE Huskie football!!! This is heartbreaking for me especially since I can't get to any more than 1 of the weeknight games. 03-weeping

Maybe we - as fans - need to be screaming at the MAC commissioner.

Yea, this is even worse for you, as I can still get to some of the weeknight games though I obviously prefer Saturdays. Getting someone to go with me is usually impossible though.

Frazier got us some good teams on the home schedule in the upcoming years, but that will be cancelled out if that's one of maybe 2 home games that are on Saturdays. Even this years game, against BC, isn't on a Saturday.

If we have 6 home games, at least 4 should be on Saturday's, including the more-sexy of the OOC teams. Mac Fans should really speak up to the conference leadership. Screw E$PN.

I am blessed with a flexible work schedule and am looking forward to two additional weekday afternoon tailgates. I always enjoy being outside enjoying the fall air and consuming a few beverages than being at work anyway. Also, this leaves Saturdays open to do other things. Yes I am the minority.

STF inherited that 4 game in 8 yr Nebraska debacle when Christian Spears was interim AD.

That was a renegade move and should be investigated by the Feds. Anyone know the payouts on that?

People can continue to have a vengeance against STF but they will be wrong regarding the schedule every single time.

I also believe that Frazier expected us to be transitioning to the AAC right now which is why he discussed more Saturday games. When the Big12 decided to stand pat at 10 teams that put our plans on hold for a while. Hopefully we can sustain until the next change of landscape in college football.

RE: New Football Schedule
NIU playing weeknight games will benefit me. With a flexible schedule I'll be able to go to NIU midweek games and NU games on the weekend. Yeah, hate me but midweek games will make it possible for me to go to 2 college fotoball games a week.

The B10 for some crazy reason is now switching some Sat games to Friday nite. NU has a 10/13 road game at Maryland and a 10/27 home game with MSU. 10/27 is the opening weekend of the IHSA state football playoffs so attendane for that game will be down at least 10K with most MSU fans not able EIU to attend.

It's going to be a strange fall with several wekeends in which neither NU or NIU having a Saturday home football game

9/2 NIU plays 9/1, NU at home with Nevada. I'll be able to go to boith
9/9 EIU at NIU, NU at Duke
9/16 BGSU at NU, NIU at Nebraska
9/23 Neither team at home
9/30 Neither team at home NIU at SD ST, NU at Wisky
10/7 only saturday that both are at home, NIU with Kent, NU with PSU
10/14 Both teams on the road, NIU at Buffalo, 10/13 NU at MD
10/21 NIU at BGSU, NU home with IOWA
10/28 TH 10/26 EMU at NIU, 10/27 MSU at NU WEIRD!
11/4 nEITHER TEAM AT HOME, 11/2 NIU at Toledo, 11/4 NU at Nebrasks
11/11 NU at home with Purdue, NIU home with BSU on 11/9
11/18 NU at home with MInny, 11/15 NIU at home with WMU
11/25 Neither team at home, NU at Illinois, 11/24 NIU at CMU. That would be a good chance for huskie fans to attend a road game with most having Friday after Tday off from work

So that is 6 Saturday's with neither team playing a home game, that Blows! But 3 weeks in which both teams are at home that I will be able to go to since they don't play on the same day

The MAC has been mismanaged for over a decade. Sadly NIU made a GIGANTIC mistake by promoting Carey. We never took advantage of the Orange Bowl bid like we should have and it has been a death spiral since.

Not sure anyone cares about NU football haha

You're a joke.

On this board? He's right, few care about Northwestern football.

+1 I do not care about Northwestern unless NIU is playing them. This is an NIU board . I'd bet 99.8 % don't give a damn about NU.

This isn't just an NIU problem either, this is an entire MAC problem. Our fanbases have dwindled, and what used be a great midwestern football conference for us fans, has turned into a vacant wasteland. None of the fanbases in the MAC have said they liked weekday games, and who would? They are impossible to attend, and when your football team counts on fan support for so much, I just don't see how staying in the MAC can sustain NIU athletics. Even the sunbelt is a better option than the MAC.

+100000000 - I think this is the best post I've ever seen you write. Well said, DPN.
