The Flashes finished second in the Washington Regional after a back and forth battle with #1 ranked USC on the back nine of the final round. Five teams advanced out of each regional.

KSU's women open play in the NCAA Championship tomorrow at the same course. It will be on Golf Channel.

Rich Harvest Farms was built by NIU alum Jerry Rich. It is the home course of the NIU golf teams. The course hosted the 2009 Solheim Cup.

Here is an article that pretty much takes apart Rich Harvest Farms GC. Fairly, too, I would add, plus it explains why the scores are so abnormally high.

http://www.friedegg.co/golf-courses/rich...rms-review

Quote:Rich has an unquestionable and admirable passion for golf. Since earning his riches he’s donated a significant chunk of his wealth toward growing the game and charities that support youth involvement in golf. Couple that with the generosity he has displayed regularly – offering up his course for use in championships and in some cases picking up the bill. Hosting the NCAA’s has been a dream in the making for the billionaire for sometime and frankly, golf needs more people like Jerry Rich.

Unfortunately, golf needs fewer courses like Rich Harvest Farms, which is a perfect example of amateur golf course architecture. I liken its design to what would happen if I was tasked with building a bridge.

The top eight teams after today move on to match play. Today's action is on Golf Channel from 4-6 p.m. EDT. Should be an entertaining finish.

From the article:

Quote: It will reward great play and players who have a well-thought-out game plan and stick to it.

Isn't that...................... the point?

Sure, but if you read that whole article and also see what some of the players, coaches, and commentators have said elsewhere, the above statement is true, and then there are a whole series of "but"s you'd have to append to it. There are a lot of great things about the course, but there are some real design issues as well.

RE: MAC Golf 2017
The Flash women finished in a tie for 5th place after bowing out in the quarterfinals yesterday. They were ranked in the top 15 all season and became the first non-Power 5 conference team to ever make the finals.

Freshman Pimnipa Panthong was named 2nd team All-American and was ranked individually in the top 20 all season. With 2 freshmen and 2 sophomores starting this season, expectations will run high for the next few seasons. Soph. Michaela Finn was the MAC POY.

The KSU men open play at the NCAA Championships Friday which is also being played at Rich Harvest Farms. The weather forecast is much better than the women had with highs in the 70's and not as much rain and wind.
