Or is all this angst just because Jefferson, Madison were not homosexual?

we are a democracy.

democracy and republicanism are not mutually exclusive.

Yep, basically people with lives have better things to worry about than civil war, etc. It's folks with to much free time on their hands that constantly breed seeds of discontent.

so what does that make GTS and his breakup of the USA maps?

Let's hope this happens.

The fine owner of this message board where folks are free to spend lots of that "free time" posting lots of interesting, if nonsensical, stuff.

Actually we just need to go to a popular vote for Congress and the Presidency.

And what will you say when a Republican wins the popular vote but loses the electoral college? I'm guessing not a damned thing. Bottom line is that a good campaign bases a strategy upon the current rules. Speculation that Trump couldn't have won the popular vote is asinine.

Quote:In a Nov. 10 article, Mother Jones pointed to a 2014 letter to the group National Popular Vote by Gingrich. The nonpartisan group promotes legislation that would guarantee the presidency to the candidate who receives the most popular votes nationally.

In the letter, Gingrich writes, "America would be better served with a presidential election process that treated citizens across the country equally."

We reached out to Gingrich spokesman Joe Desantis. He pointed us to a statement made by Gingrich on Sunday’s "Face The Nation." When asked whether he was still a fan of getting rid of the Electoral College, Gingrich said, "I think, in the long run, you want to find a way to have the whole country represented."

But for now, the only competitions that matter are the ones in the swing states. The GOP, Gingrich said, all but writes off traditional Democratic states such as California, which have huge popular vote totals.

Did I say that? I've never said the electoral college was undemocratic. Go ahead and find where I have.

RE: Is the Growing Political Divide Leading America Towards Another Civil War?
When I was walking this morning, there was a sign in the front yard of this house. It was laminated on turquoise paper. Sign Reads:

In this household we believe:

All Immigrants Welcome.

Black Lives Matter.
(Theses lines were Bold)

Followed by three more lines I could not read. They were in a cursive like script and not bold. Font size was smaller.

This is a white family that lives there.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but is it really a good idea to be broadcasting it like that? For me I wouldn't.
