not sure I connect to th author's sense of outrage and horror. Doesn't seem as invasive as the full body scanner we all go through.

Some terminals already have designated lanes to skip security with a retinal or fingerprint scan instead. It's not like this is a full body pat down on a Terry Stop.

The government can build a biometric database of every citizen. And unlike a password, when your biometric is leaked there IS no reset button.

It's a biometric which can be recorded and reproduced later. I don't like it.

Hate to break it to you , but if you have ever had a state ID, drivers license, military ID, or mugshot, you are already actively in the FBI's biometric database.

They already use driver's license pictures for facial recognition. My fingerprints have been taken many times since I worked for several banks, and I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't already collect data from optometrist and dentists to build profiles on everyone.

The revolt from me comes when they try to microchip me, which I figure will be in the next 10-20 years. I'm of the belief that will be the manifestation of the mark of the beast foretold in the Bible.

Same, I'll be doing my best to remain as far off the grid as I can if it happens.

Any expectation of privacy went out the door a long time ago. I had to submit to a retinal scan for my NEXUS card (Canadian border fast track). While Canada is the only country where I use a retinal scan to cross the border, I'd be surprised if US CBP didn't have it.

Everyone has to show their papers...except those that wander in from the South. We give them big hugs instead.
