MSU 's Reschke
Quality linebacker at MSU is leaving because he made a comment to another teammate which is irreparable apparently. He made what appears to be sincer appologies and acknowledgements, in a thoughtful statement, but says he knows he needs to leave. Wonder where he will land. He would be a huge get for any MAC program. Wonder if WMU could be in the running. He is probably a big enough get that some big programs will pursue, but he is a Michigan kid, and may want to stay more local.

Yeah. I don't know if you want to touch that one. I would think as a coach I would want my team to be comfortable with bringing him on. I assume he would play like his ass is on fire though realizing that playing like an animal might be the only way for guys to forgive and forget.

RE: MSU 's Reschke
We have the best linebacking corps in the MAC and just signed the top linebacker class in the MAC. I don't see why we would even give him a look, unless he'd be willing to become an edge rusher.

It looks like the guy was one of the best players on one of the best defenses in the country. He was injured most of this past season but presumably is healthy. Even good MAC linebackers might leave much to be desired when compared to this guy. I don't know what he said, or why he doesn't feel his teammates would ever fully forgive him, but it sure sounds like he learned something from the experience, and I am unaware that he has otherwise had a poor attitude. Who knows what schools he might consider, but my guess is that we have taken guys with more baggage than this kid before, and in 2018, when he would be eligible to play, he might fill a huge need.

RE: MSU 's Reschke
While WMU can always use the depth, I question whether we want a Spartan reject with bad attitude and conduct.

Frankly, Reschke would not have started for WMU last season.

Of course, he would not be eligible to play until 2018. If he has learned his lesson and is ready to be part of a program with a higher off-the-field expectations than what he was part of in EL, then...maybe. 07-coffee3

Graduate transfers have immediate eligibility.

RE: MSU 's Reschke
He could have two years' eligibility if he petitioned NCAA because he missed so much of last season due to injury.

Reschke is 6-2, 227, with all-Big Ten talent. To say he couldn't start for us is silly.

Whatever he said would follow him. Western would need to look closely at his comments before showing interest. Why risk starting the Lester program with disruption? Not worth it.

As for Mr. Reschke, unless he is NFL talent he might want to consider hanging up his cleats and focusing on his studies.

I don't disagree but that's a separate question than if he could start for us.

On the contrary, if I knew I wasn't NFL caliber and likely had only one more year of organized, competitive Football left, it would make me all the more eager to play and play well.

Lester understands that he's inheriting a loaded roster. I'm sure there's a coach's guide for "just don't screw it up."

Isn't this sort of a CMU tradition to get a Big Ten screwup?

They already got the Yawner 5th year senior qb from um to run their offense this year.....ya thats a typical cmu move. Bono and his team of chimps are trending downward.WMU will reign again this year!!!!!! Lets make it "reign" up in Waldo this year.

He isn't too loved among CMU Alumni. They're probably glad to see him gone.

Unfortunately, their President isn't likely to hire anybody more competent.

I say bring him in if his apology is Sincere and has the mindset of "Hey, word got out, I get it. And you know what? Razz me coming in. Treat me like a true freshman who ran the other way with a football on the field... I want people to look me in the eye and see me for who I am. I've already done that with myself, and I deserve to have some negative assumptions about me with no complaints on my side."

I said we could use the depth. However, keep-in-mind, WMU did have - and returns - two All-MAC linebackers in Asantay Brown and Robert Spillane.

Fleck had/has his quirks, but he demanded and expected high standards of conduct from his players on, and off, the field.

Mr. Reschke's problems at MSU are likely deeper then some insensitive statements (my goodness, Dantonio welcomes back players who have pulled-a-gun on others, let alone making a stupid comment).

The unfortunate scandal developing in East Lansing that involves former assistant coach Curtis Blackwell likely involves Mr. Reschke as well.

Under Fleck, a player's conduct and leadership were important.

Proud to be a BRONCO, and supporting a program with high standards.

04-cheers
