There is a WMU Football Facebook group page (closed) that claims Spillane has grievances with one of the new defensive coaches. He has every right to make this choice, but that's somewhat troubling to me if true.

IF that is true... its probably something that started when Pinkham left after NOT getting the job... its very possible that when that happened Spillane was already checked out... tried to stick it out and was constantly bothered by it and didn't really want to spend his last year re-learning something he spent the last three years getting mastered... very common when a staff is changed...

This leads me to believe he follows Pinkham... not the rear admiral.

Lester said he would meet with each player individually, Spillane did not abandon ship after the coaching change . He probably had his meeting with Lester and may not have agreed where he would fit in during the coming season and decided to leave. Maybe he ends up at UMass Doesn't seem like he made an impulsive decision.
