Knapke gets a 3 and it's 87-66 UT

Chips can't score and UT dribbles out the clock

Rockets win 87-66

Understatement to say that was a needed win after the disappointment against WMU. Nice to see the Rockets bounce back and never let the Chips get within single digits in the 2nd half.

I missed the first half, but did see the second. Got worried, but it all ended up ok.

So, what did I miss; who the hell dressed coach K tonight?

Jordon Lauf player of the game for me was Lauf; the guys on the radio agree.

Nice win; and much needed.

It was "organ donation" night, and green is there signature color--thus the green coat for Coach K. Cool thing: the shot clock operator here was back for the first time in 10 weeks--after getting a liver transplant.

Lauf had a monster game. Several put-backs, a 3, played tough D as usual. He & Taylor owned the boards.

Thank you. Figured it was something like that.

Maybe he should wear it Tuesday. :-)

RE: MBB: Central Michigan at Toledo game thread
Does anyone know if Keene had five fouls then a T or was the T his fifth? And I'll add my two cents: not sure a greater presence by Keene in half one would have made much difference. Assuming he kept up his rather astounding TO rate he would have had maybe 13 or 14. Also, everyone stood around and watched Braydon or Keene-no real offensive movement. I thought K made a brilliant defensive plan in the first half forcing Keene to drive and doubling with Knapke. Even while he was on the floor he had lots of trouble scoring until Knapke got in some foul trouble. Knapke had a nice game, especially early and Adway gave some nice hustle minutes. If we could just shoot FTs...

Great win Rockets! Balanced scoring and nice job of not letting CMU get too close.

I believe that charge was his 5th foul & he got the T on top of that.

Good point about the defensive strategy, which was particularly effective early in the game. And you're right about the Chips' offense--it's pretty much limited to the Rason & Keene show, and Rayson wasn't nearly as effective when Keene was out--and in the 2nd half, it seemed to me that Rayson didn't even get many shots because Keene wanted to make up for all those minutes he missed.

Bottom line for me: we had a 20 point lead at half, and it never went to single digits afterwards.

I was sure that with the big second half lead we were doomed to OT. And, yeah, Keene was determined to do some stat padding.

Keene with 27 in the second half.

He and Roberts both got nine, Adway's were effective and energetic

I still find it pretty incredible that Keene was able to get to the basket at will in the second half. Kid is amazing. Even with a 20 pt. lead, I was still holding my breath until the buzzer sounded. Never can tell this season.

This game's double digit lead felt different because CMU doesn't defend or rebound well enough to really catch up. We would have had to help them tremendously with turnovers & missed FT's. And we did, for about a 5 minute stretch, but it would have taken more than that. UT did everything well last night except FT shooting. I think 4 games like that next week and we're MAC Champs…tall order of course.

I also believe pretty firmly that the game was officiated in a way that the officials knew who the nation's leading scorer is & wanted to keep it that way for the conference. He got away with A LOT in the 2nd half.

Kosierski or whatever, just mugged Sanford on one trip up the floor after shoving Taylor. I counted three seperate fouls on Sanford and one to Taylor before he got called- he then acted shocked-SHOCKED-that the refs had the audacity.
