NC State is losing transfers like it's going out of style. The list of transfers from NC State who are still playing in the NCAA would make a legit NCAA tourney team:

Kyle Washington (Cincinnati): 14 pts, 7 rb
Tyler Lewis (Butler): 7 pts, 4 assists (2nd in the nation in assist/turnover ratio)
Rodney Purvis (Connecticut): 13 pts, 4 rb, 3 asists
Caleb Martin (Nevada): currently sitting out a transfer year but averaged 12 pts and 5 rb last year for NCST
Caleb Martin (Nevada): currently sitting out a transfer year but averaged 6 pts, 4 rb, and 3 assists last year for NCST

Without these guys, NC State is currently 15-14 and 2nd to last in the ACC. They went 11-2 in nonconference but their best win was Georgia Southern (124th in RPI).

What is going on in Raleigh? Is Gottfried chasing people away? He's taken them to 2 Sweet 16s in 6 years but this looks like one of the worst teams of his 20 year coaching career.

Yes. Along with some very good assistants.

RE: What's wrong wtih NC State basketball?
Every school seems to lose 1-2 players a year to transfer these days.

Even without those guys NC State has enough talent left to be a good tournament team. But Mark Gottfired has lost his players. I don't know if it's personal life bleeding over into work life, or the loss of assistants that were better coaches, or what...
