Riiiiight...

LMAO ... Berding acts as if the Lindners run a 501©(3).

Sounds like the same BS some people were pushing here a while back, that we owed it to the Lindner's to reconfigure Nippert for soccer because they had donated money to the school. Not saying it was necessarily the case here, but if there's strings attached, or if there's a quid pro quo, it ain't charity IMO.

Or better yet... since they are covering so much... Doss can you just wire the county 75 million to earmark for that?

I think College Corner Football Club has a snazzy ring to it. I live in Hamilton County, BTW.

I figured you did... as a Butler County resident...you and the other hamilton county tax payers can pick up the tab, while I enjoy the venue 3 or 4 times a year.

I think they were meeting at 1pm, with an announcement to come after if I was reading the tweet correctly.

Did they decide they personally need more money from fcc to do the deal. Ridiculous this is even up for discussion. Why should tax payers provide money for the stadium. What a waste.

The article below, updated shortly before 1:00, said a press conference at 1:00. Wouldn't be the first time the Enquirer got it wrong though, or the first time politicians made a change.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the stadium itself will be funded 100% by FCC. FCC wants the city/county to put forward $70-75M to upgrade the infrastructure around the stadium.

Lets hear it for transparency.

What they are probably talking about is that if they don't capitulate, the Lindners are likely going to send a sizable campaign donation to whomever runs against them next.

Its the infrastructure in the stadium as well as outside of it including the parking garage, sewers....you know, stuff you need to actually build as part of building a stadium.

You build a house, you pay for the sewer hookup and the curb and the utility services. You don't go to the township and tell them to pay you for that over 30 years.

Not only do the rich guys have their political pals in their pocket (don't ever let them tell you campaign contributions are out of the goodness of your heart), but FC Cincinnati has twitter blasts like this today:

Today the @HamiltonCntyOH Commissioners will decide if they'll help cover needed infrastructure costs for our 100% privately financed stadium in Cincinnati. Let them know you want to bring #MLS2CINCY!

@ChrisMonzel 513-946-4409
@TPortune 513-946-4401[quote]

100% privately financed if you ignore the $84 million in cash over 30 years and untold millions more in TIF funds and tax breaks to a family that has that kind of money rolling around in the cushions of one of the Gulfstream G650's in the stable.

Something about sports facilities and arenas that make otherwise smart and financially responsible people advocate the really great idea of living off of credit cards so that the baronies can avoid displeasure..

Lets fight over Music Hall and Union Terminal funding for a decade but dammit we need to give the poor Lindners a break. After all, they have earned it.

By the way, Chris Monzel wore a blue suit and orange tie to the commissioner's meeting today...he apparently knows who the boss of Tammany Hall is around these parts.

Jesus, have some dignity and hide your interests a little bit, guy lol. That's akin to an obese man playing hide and seek in a birch forest.

Monzel using that classic engineering sense of humor to soften up the press.
