The convo
We need a new name i am getting tired of checking the schedule and seeing "at thebconvo". There are 3 convos in the mac and I've missed or gone to our convo to only find out it's at a different one. Carl R Ebach Convocation center has a nice ring to it kind unforgettable. But anything at this point would be better than "the Convo" it's been 18 years.07-coffee3

I agree that a new name is needed. No offense Carl but it might make better sense to sell the naming rights.

This idea has crossed my mind before.

Wonder who would bid for it? "Dominos Arena," "Arbow Brewery Center"?

For however many years there is life on earth, no EMU basketball coach will have accomplished as much as Ben Braun. Sweet 16? Will never be done again. Once in a lifetime coach. Plus he is a great guy who loved EMU and it's students.

Actually, aren't buildings named after a person is deceased?

Last I checked Ben Braun is alive and well. Scratch Ben.

Super is alive. I read his posts yesterday. Scratch Carl. "Crazy Carl Convocation Center". Lol.

Seriously, I don't know of anyone in MBB who has done enough to have a building named after him. Can't be a player if he is only a player at the school.

And I don't see it happening... Now days, colleges change their coaches more often then we change our automobiles.

Braun was around for what 10 years as HC but I don't think that is enough.

I'm thinking more like Dean Smith, Coach K, John Wooden, etc. (or folks like Bo at UofM FB and Woody Hayes, OSU FB).

To me, it is decades (min. two) at HC to be considered to be honored to have a stadium or arena named after him...

Tom Izzo should get something named after him. He has been HC at MSU since 1995 and was an asst under Judd Heathcoate for over a decade.

I believe U-D's Calihan Hall named the floor after Dick Vitale. I would say that Braun is on par with Vitale in terms of what he was able to accomplish at EMU.

True, although you have changed the subject from naming a building and naming a floor.

IF Braun had stayed another 5 years at EMU naming the court for him would seem appropriate.

Do you suggest; "Crazy Carl Court" at the EMU Convo???? 03-lmfao

Stop. Stop bringing corporate money into college athletics. I would rather drink my own throw-up.

If you go to the wrong building because you can't check the city which is literally located right below I'm not sure what would need to change.
