RE: Great game SMU
UH 61-54 on shots from the field.

SMU 22-5 from the free throw line.

Just saying.

That said, it's a part of the game. We lost our cool on that 4 foul possession and didn't respond well. What SMU is doing with a 6-man rotation is impressive. This game was what I have gotten used to as a fan. The most fans in the house in quite awhile to watch a game with meaning... and we lost. Again.

The good news is I watched on my phone from the Rec Center pool were the UH women in two years went from worst to first to win the Swimming + Diving conference championship. Way more fun than hoops.

UH - 9/27 from deep.

How many trips to the line are you getting that way?

If that's your way of making two SMU bigs work through 40 minutes, so be it..

That's pretty good.

As long as you do not plan to cash checks from our NCAA tournament credits.

To the SMU fan who said UH should have adjusted their defense, you know you have a height advantage over our guards. We give space and you guys jump shoot right over us. We had to play tight defense or you would have scored a 100 on us. I agree that we should have attacked the basket more. SMU has the better team but if we make a few plays and the refs suck less we might have been able to steal one. I hope we meet in the conference tournament. We may be able to get one there.

I don't know. But I do know we took 36 other shots and only shot 11 free throws. Our guards drive to the hoop. A lot.

Stop acting like our only offense was the three. SMU only took 4 more total shots from inside the arc than we did. Four.

RE: Great game SMU
Just checked Play by Play
UH had 9 fouls in Final 3 Minutes after SMU built 7 point lead
8 of those were in final 2 minutes which were just about all intentional
Total Fouls UH: 26 SMU 18

Total fouls without the intentional fouls was just about EVEN

UH crybaby act is really getting old. We were better than you on the road in FG% FT% and Rebounding. SMU commits the least number of fouls in the NCAA and you aren't going to get fould when you launch 27 3 point attempts

Maybe UH should change their colors to Red Whine and White

Interesting you foul the least in the conference I meant nation and you don't have a deep team, seems like the conference might be protecting you, you know with your massive 4 years of basketball history and all.

RE: Great game SMU
Its called technique-watch a little Ben Moore teaching the Principle of Verticality down low. We have had to play this way for 2 years-we've got it down defensively. 3rd in the Nation in Scoring Defense and 13 in Defensive Efficiency. You are really stretching it now with a Conspiracy theory

Compare the careers of the Chicken Man and Ben Moore-its called Coaching and personal development. The Chicken Man was a 4 star-Ben Moore has a higher Basketball IQ than any SMU player I've seen in 50 years. Knowles scored 0 points and 2 rebounds while Ben Moore had 18 points 13 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals to record his 101st victory. Ben Moore might not make All-AAC but there is no more valuable player to any team in the AAC. UH on the other hand has no inside game which usually results in far less fouls

I think losing to SMU makes other team's fans B and moan more than any I have seen. I love it. Especially Houston and Tulsa.

exactly. UConn has actually done some great things in mens BB - like really great - and they don't bellyache like the Tulsa UH crowd when we beat them. THey just say good game and see ya next time.

Odd. Its almost like they are knowledgable fans.

Slow down there now...they lost by double digits at Moody this season and claimed it was the officials. UCONN basketball has done some great things and made some great runs, but let's not go crazy talking about fans!

People have a hard time dealing with the foul display disparity because they don't recognize that it isn't a byproduct of style but instead is the driving force behind it. Team is set up to enable defense without fouling, especially in the first half, because of the limited bench. Best part is, that style can be maintained and adapted as the sanctions go away and we get more scholarships back.

Good game by SMU, but they shouldn't be surprised if you have a lot more foul trouble in the NCAA tournament. Look, I totally expected to lose that game, but from what I saw up close, they are definitely being protected by the AAC refs. That said, that starting 5 is as good as anyones.

They have to fundamentally change the way they call fouls it was horrific.

If you think the officials didn't bail SMU out about a half a dozen times last night then you just didn't watch the game. That said we had our opportunities to win and didn't capitalize. Over all the game was fun. SMU brought a good crowd which helped to give Hoffeinz a little more buzz than normal. Shame we couldn't pull through, but we still have the conference tourney to look forward to. I hate that we've made this thread about the refs, I normally hate to hear that excuse but as an honest fan of the game it was pretty bad. Nevertheless good game Ponies, you guys have a really awesome team this year. Very fun to see in person. Hopefully we can get one more crack at y'all in the tourney. Go Coogs!

Funny thing is, the refs bailed Houston out several times too. No one is saying the officiating was good...it was terrible both ways. But, getting called for what essentially was 2 more fouls in the run of play than the team that has the fewest fouls called against them in D1 is certainly not indicative of any bias...unless you want to use those numbers compared to the usual foul disparity to suggest that UH was helped by the officials.

The original post was about the refs, so I'm not sure what else you were expecting.
