I think whoever's doing the game for Brent said it was the 7th overtime game.

Seven. I believe it's a IT record and at least tied for most in the nation this year, depending on whether anyone we were tied with went to OT. Huge road win in the rivalry game. Adway showed something in OT and Navi is getting better with each outing.

Big one to win on the road. Little cushion now to end at least .500 in the MAC.

Gotta admit I wasn't keepin' the faith. Nice to see them learn how to win one like this, though. Hoping for a strong finish.

I hate being up double figures in the second half and knowing we're gonna end up in a dog fight (pun intended). Akron, NIU, BG just wanna blow somebody's doors off on the road for once.

middle of each half we seem to lose steam for a few minutes. NIU did play some defense. those guys were up in our shirts all second half and OT. for the first part of the 2nd half we were too good moving the ball and shooting.

This was a game of destiny for adway. it was the closest game he'll play to home (south chicago suburbs) this season. he played well in the 1st half off the bench but you could see him frustrated on the bench as NIU came back and he never played in the 2nd half. eventually, we have no choice but to play him the last 2 minutes of OT and he makes pretty much every play (i'll take splitting those free throws). then, he gets to put the signature dunk on the win and throws down one of the best in rocket history (on style)

I got to watch the game on ESPN3. Sanford looked good running the offense and loved watching Sanford and Taylor run the pick and roll, it is a deadly combination but none of the guards could stay in front of the frosh guard German. His body control and finishing at the rim was incredible. But I have to say the best offensive play of the game was Justin Roberts falling down off the backboard 3 pointer.

Huge win on the road! They displayed a lot of grit in winning that game. Gutsy performance!

watch the end of the ESPN3 replay. dominique style windmill. can't compare to cool dunks that were momentum changers in close games since it was an end of the game breakaway, but it was definitely dunk contest worthy

RE: MBB @ NIU
They have to take advantage of the home games. Go 3-1; hopefully that would be enough for a game off (will a 4 seed do that?).

Even if Garber comes back, he won't be in game shape by any stretch of our imagination. If he gives us minutes, and helps double down with some of the other big guys (the MAC will go through Akron - who answers for Johnson?). Garber is at best another body - minutes - breather for the others. No dis-respect intended to Garber - he has been out quite a while - you don't get your game back that quick. Another snake-bit development this year. :-(

I would like to see a bit more of Adway; give the kid some playing time (Coach K knows he's a high energy guy and afraid of what bad things may happen when in the game (he's raw and un-disciplined). Risk/reward type of thing; but I blame Coach K for not playing him more last year when the chance presented itself.

Their backs are against the wall - unless they melt down (3 home games) - they should make the field. Could be a road game to another area to start. When you only go 6 1/2 deep, this late in the year, you need some energy. I "perceive" Adway as a high energy guy; turn him loose and see what happens. He'd probably foul out by halftime. :-) But would be fun to watch. I liked his dunk at the end of the game. NIU probably wasn't as appreciative.

I loved it.

In Coach K's philosophy of basketball (being unselfish as to get the better shot), they miss acquiring an attitude. They need an attitude - sticking a dunk in their face on their home floor is attitude.

#rocketattitude :-)

It was pretty good. I wonder if he caught **** from Coach K. It was also unnecessary. My post above not withstanding. ;-)

RE: MBB @ NIU
to me that was adway's version of the rebel yell. lots of time on the bench getting out on that dunk. it wasn't necessary but NIU was still trying to make a play. it was a 2 possession game with 8 seconds to go, so not a blowout situation. sanford got a dunk in a similar situation at home earlier in conf play and I don't remember anyone complaining (maybe cuz it was less emphatic).

adway got minutes early in the conf schedule and was not very good. lately, he hasn't tried to do too much and has made plays when given a chance. as long as he remembers he is not a primary scoring option and his role is to crash the glass and make good catches and finishes on offense and play his role on defense, he is capable of contributing. at times, he has that bench player mentality of "i got this one shot to make a play and I gotta make 3 of them right away" which leads to forced plays and getting out of position. my hunch is that he is ready to step up but coach has to trust him.

Post season comments from TK last season were to the effect of regreting not playing Adway more than he did. Well this season is similar to his freshman year(limited minutes). Maybe certain things come into play in regards to the young mans lack of playing time such as (practice/work ethics/attitude).

Yeah, my opinion is the same. NIU was still putting on a full court press. If you don't want to give up a late dunk, then back off and Toledo would have as well. Not fair to ask one team to quit when the other isn't.
