Somehow I posted my comment on Tulane baseball last week in the basketball thread.
Tulane made a horrific hire in baseball - something that seemed impossible to do considering the candidates with TU connections that for some unknown reason we passed on. He doesn't know what he's doing and the team rarely practices stuff that matters.
Just hope it only kills us this year, and doesn't set our program back 5 years.
And apologies for CMD for comparing him to Ellis Johnson.

We split with Fullerton this weekend. Game 3 was rained out.

11-1 is 11-1 so I'm not gonna scoff at that record no matter who is on the schedule but particularly when it includes a victory over #3 Florida. UCF & USF are on fire right now & UH is solid as usual. I think the AAC should have 4 teams ranked this week with Memphis scratching to get in as well.

Thinking we could have at least 3 American teams ranked ASAP. ECU, USF and UCF are all playing great ball.

What I like about Baseball America is that they stick to their guns. They don't overreact to a single weekend or even week of baseball. When ECU was swept by Ole Miss to open the season we only fell to #11 and Ole Miss was still in the 20s. Last week Ole Miss lost all 4 games and they only dropped one spot to #21. They seem to understand the ebb and flow of baseball and just refuse to fall into the prisoner of the moment syndrome that everyone else does.

UH stays at #20 in Perfect Game btw and UCF/USF are in the "also considered" category.

ECU stays pat at #18 in D1 Baseball's latest rankings (surprised we didn't move up considering we were 4-0 including a win over #19 St. John's who moved up 3 spots despite their loss to us) & UH moves up 2 spots to #23.

ECU jumps up to #20 in Collegiate Baseball's new top 30 poll. No other AAC is ranked in that one.

UCF's Kyle Marsh named AAC Player of the Week. He had 6 RBIs with a HR in UCF's 11-2 win over No. 2 Florida and added 4 more RBIs during the weekend sweep of Stony Brook.

There hasn't been much for us Tulane guys to post here with the way that the season has started for us. We did take 2 of 3 from West Virginia this past weekend, although yesterday's game was a disaster. In addition to the bad loss, our catcher, a team leader, was taken out by a collision at the plate - broken leg and torn ligaments. A controversial play. Many feel that the runner lowered his shoulder and should have been tossed.

Not that it matters this early anyways but this poll make absolutely no sense. ECU was 10th in this poll this week and went 4-0 including a win over St. Johns. St. Johns was unranked, lost to us and somehow they jump to 16 and we drop to 17th.

Why doesn't SMU have a baseball team? Seems like a no-brainer.
