College Baseball needs more TV love
An opening day/weekend top 25 matchup of ECU/Ole Miss gets ESPN3 only when Football and Basketball would have it no lower than ESPN.

So do fat actresses, but you don't see men lining up to bury dollar bills in the folds of obese strippers.

uh yeah...it's college baseball.

The fact that UNC, NCST, and Duke are willing to come to ECU in baseball (just like in soccer, volleyball, and the other non revenue sports) tells you all you need to know about where college baseball is in the pecking order

UNC and NC State comes to ECU for football? And Duke used to until they started their private school only OOC scheduling initiative

There were talks of it's potential on ESPN at one point, but it can't break the fact that it's regional in popularity. A more popular lacrosse if you will.

Still a top 25 matchup could be on ESPNU and more matchups can be on ESPN3

Id just like to get more games televised---even if it is ESPN-3 or the AAC Digital Network. My biggest complaint is the AAC Digital Network is a completely squandered opportunity. No reason that we don't have tons of Olympic sports on there. The MW Digital Network runs rings around ours and has recently become profitable (its actually making money now). No reason we cant do the same.

That of course is an argument that could be made to support any status quo. It doesn't make it correct and it doesn't EVER recognize new Or changing technologies. The fact is there is a market for those sports---they are just handled piecemeal on a school by school basis.

The streams are already being produced and sold through school sites. There's no reason we don't stream them through the AAC Digital Network other than a lack of vision.

Sure there is.....its a guaranteed money loser.

If you want to fork out a ton of money to show hundreds of mostly meaningless college baseball and softball games at the AAC or lower level, go for it.

There were over 12k at the Ole Miss/East Carolina game yesterday.

In 2015...out of the 300 or so Div I College Baseball Programs...only 5 averaged more than 5,000 fans per game.

LSU lead the nation with 10,000 plus per game (even though less than half that amount attend mid-week non-conf games but since almost all tix are sold as season tix, their attendance number stays almost even).

Alabama in 2015 averaged 2,808 fans per game (#23 in attendance rankings).

SEC does dominate college baseball attendance...helped by some of the biggest ballparks like LSU, Arkansas, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Miss St, etc...

Not your best stuff. More high-profile football teams come to Greenville than anywhere else on the conference

Lol. What costs? The network already exists. The streams are already being produced by the schools and they already have a radio play by play. The sum total of the cost is connecting the already existing streams to the already existing AAC Digital Network. As for additional streams for things typically not produced, we are already flying a full time employee all over the place to interviews (I think her name is Halle Oughtwell), why not have them produce some events when they make these trips--or better yet, utilize student produced feeds from the campus Radio and TV Departments.

Bottom line, the MW makes money with thier network showing things like baseball. No reason we can't as well.
