Aresco already agrees with this, so the AAC isn't going to be involved with this playoff. It would need to be a G4 playoff which would mean even less interest. I'm not even sure teams in the MWC would go for this. I doubt Boise wants to play in a lower level playoff.

This is just BS by the Power Five to see if any of the other leagues is dumb enough to separate itself from the highest division on its own.

The networks pay a combined 52 million a year for the entire regular season rights to every single G5 conference. There is absolutely zero evidence to indicate that any network would pay 160 million for handful of G5 playoff games.

You may be right, but until the number crunching is finalized we will not know for sure. Like I said before, it will come down to the dollars, which is also what you are saying in a roundabout way. However, IF the money is there, Aresco will likely change his stance.

The FCS championship - and this notional "G5 playoff" is no better than that - got 1.5 million viewers.

Houston's bowl got 3 million
Navy's bowl got 2.3 million
The recently cancelled Poinsettia Bowl got 2.4 million in a Wednesday.
The St Pete Bowl - Ole Miss and Miami (Ohio) epitomizes what you are complaining about and it drew 2 million at noon on a Monday.

Don't think the FCS is a good comparison? Okay how many people watch the NIT vs March Madness?

1. "No one watches the bowls" us a myth.
2. Anyone who repeats that myth and then in the same breath asserts that this G5 playoff would get viewers is a moron.
3. The lack of viewers this would get directly correlates to a lack of money from TV for it.

Declaring your conference a minor league in a minor league playoff is a recruiting DISADVANTAGE.

Exposure? AAC average rated game is equal to FCS championship. AAC championship gets MORE exposure than FCS championship.
