PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Commissioner Mike Aresco has announced that Frontier Communications, a Fortune 500 and S&P 500 company and a leader in providing communication services to urban, suburban and rural communities in 29 states, will be the title sponsor of the American Athletic Conference's 2017 men's and women's basketball championships.
The 2017 Frontier Communications American Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Championship will be held March 9-12 at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut.
The 2017 Frontier Communications American Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Championship will be held March 3-6 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
"The American Athletic Conference is proud to associate with Frontier Communications in the presentation of our men's and women's basketball championships," said Aresco. "Our goal with our basketball championships is to create memorable postseason experiences for our student-athletes, coaches and fans, and this partnership with an outstanding company like Frontier will only enhance our ability to do so. Our prior men's and women's championships have been resounding successes and this year will be no different. We are proud and pleased to welcome Frontier to The American."
"Frontier is excited to partner with a league that has produced four recent NCAA championship teams – UConn men's basketball in 2014 and UConn women's basketball in 2014, 2015 and 2016 – in our home state," said Kira Howell, Vice President of Engagement Marketing for Frontier. "American Athletic Conference basketball is about players bringing their best skills to the game so that they stand apart from the competition. We strive to do that every day with our products and services, and look forward to sharing more about Frontier at the championship venues."
As the title sponsor of both championships, Frontier Communications will be designated as the exclusive communications company of the American Athletic Conference and will receive prominent exposure inside and outside the host arenas. Frontier Communications also will be featured in The American's print, radio and digital content in conjunction with the tournaments and will be part of a significant media package on the ESPN television productions of the championships.
The partnership between the American Athletic Conference and Frontier Communications is managed by IMG College, the exclusive multimedia rights-holder for The American.
