I couldn't get the video to load. What did it say? All I saw was "Why Toledo?"

The video was slow loading. He talked about the importance of family. Toledo's coaches made him feel welcome.

Coaches want him to work on his outside shooting.

was a pretty long segment mostly based on interviews with some practice and game footage mixed in. Rose comes off as a rather soft spoken modest kid, talks about the family atmosphere in Toledo's program and how he wanted to feel that sense of welcome and closeness going away to college. Said he knows he has improvements to make and mention working on his jump shot. The action video shows an athletic 6-3 guy who is pretty strong for his age.
Rose certainly fits into the mold of Juice, Sanford, Navigato, Knapke... Midwest kids who are highly regarded mid-major recruits but lacking a little something (in Rose's case the pure j a Big 10 program wants in a 2 guard) to be that blue chip type recruit.
This 2017 class is TK's strongest if you include the 2 transfers. you got 2 big blue chip wings (W Jackson and Fletcher) a good off guard prospect in Rose, a pure very competitive pg in M Jackson, a high energy dunker and role player type in Hill. Then again, these are young guys who sometimes compare much differently against their peers at 16 years old than as college juniors and seniors. The exciting part for me is the high level talent of the transfers and overall depth next year's class should have outside the post position. Could still really use a big guy, especially one who can defend and rebound.

Last paragraph hits nail squarely on the head. Every class I can recall had some guys I wondered about. Stuckey, Garber, Gordon , the guy from Ann Arbor, White:there always seemed to be at least one guy who was a head scratcher. Garber turned out solid if not good, the others, except for Gordon, are gone along w/ the Spaniard and several others. I could see next year's class being on the floor all at once and doing well. Fletcher goes then, but the other, along with Knapke, Sanford and Navigato will be a strong nucleus for years.

I wouldn't really call the transfer wings big, one being 6-5. And Hill is often listed as 6-5. Team should be more athletic, but we lose two real bigs with no replacement in sight. Will we actually have a power forward? I am looking forward to having a speedy PG in Jackson who can distribute the ball. This team will need to run.

I'm seeing what you're seeing. Not saying we won't improve...I think next year's team will finish with a winning record in MAC play. But Knapke needs some help in the low post, and while I see plenty to like in our new players for next season, there is no replacement (for the moment) for Taylor & his defensive rebounding and low post, back 'em down offensive scoring. That's going to be the piece that holds us back. Still time to get the right guy if he's out there.

true, a big guy would be huge, but there is the option to play a notre dame or villanova style with 4 or 5 shooters on the floor and several swingmen who rebound well. you will have some trouble defending true big guys but having a lot of athletic mid sized guys allows you to be versatile. if your 6-5 6-6 type guys are aggressive rebounders you'll be ok.
