Mick's name coming up is just more exposure for Cincinnati basketball.
I think Mick burned a big hole in the bridge with that Vegas stunt last off-season. He signed a big extension after that escapade.
I'd suggest to Mick that he take a break from the "annual contract extension conversation" this season... Or just take the damn job. The next time he takes a sight-seeing trip, he just might find his office boxed up for him when he gets back.
With who in his place?

First, I am NOT on the "Fire Mick" warpath. I LIKE Mick Cronin.
That being said, no coach is bigger than their program. If it came to it, one way or another, UC would be fine. Right now we have an experienced HC...who won at UC when Mick was incapacitated...riding second chair.
My point is merely that UC doesn't have to be...shouldn't be...held hostage. Mick just got a new deal and concessions from the University. He should recognize that and tread gently perhaps.
(Besides which, he hasn't done anything yet...so merely hypothetical at this point.)
Excellent points Jerry. If Mick actively shops around again UC should move on. A new coach could come in and win right away with what we have returning and recruit to a new state of the art arena. I would feel personally offended if he pulled that same crap again, especially for a crap job like UNLV or something similar.

If Mick were to ever leave, no way would I want LD running the show. I have 0 confidence he would be able to recruit, and fear his recruiting would be at MAC level or lower tier AAC.

Mick has to be happy about the 5/3 renovations, I don't think there are many jobs he would leave for.

If you view a program as a success, the top assistant is a good place to start for a new HC. If you view it as lackluster, then look elsewhere.
