Wasn't pretty, but Rockets did what they needed to win. Cleaned up the turnovers in the 2nd half and shot a lot better.
Boyd and Janice were not factors the 1st 3 quarters due to fouls, but they both stepped up big in the 4th.
Kaayla with 20 points, 7 boards, 3 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks.
Jay-Ann with 19 points, 9 boards, 2 assists and a block.
Santucci had 9 points, 9 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks.

Bad stat of the night, 0 points from the bench.
Also, wonder why Sophie didn't see the floor. She's made some big plays the last few games in her limited minutes.

Cullop is very rigid in how she reacts to foul trouble. If you get your second, you're done for the first half. If you get your third, you're done for the third quarter. I really questioned keeping Boyd out as the game came close to getting out of hand in the third. It worked out in the end, though.
I agree with northcoast that 0 bench points (0-9 shooting) is really disappointing for a team that was supposed to have good depth, especially in a game where foul trouble required us to use the bench significantly. Cunningham has really faded, both in terms of minutes played and also production when on the court. Printz does some things well, but scoring isn't one of them, with the exception of the CMU game where she hit 4-4 three-pointers.
The offensive rebounds late won the game for us. The turnovers and multiple airballs almost lost it. Akron is a bad team that has only won two conference games, so this is not really an effort to be proud of. I was very relieved to see the Rockets get the win, though.

Players seem to rise and fall and not always based on production. Rokkanen was really coming on, then disappeared for a few games. Olivia the same. Woody gets several big threes earlier this year, rarely sees the floor now.

Akron's live stats and post-game story are pathetic. For Toledo's stats leader they list McIntire by name and then list everyone else by number. Failing Akron sports journalist can't look up names. Sad.

About 300 in attendance? Might as well give away tickets at that point... all for a good pink cause too. I'm glad we have fans.

Unfortunately we have quite a few players who have proven over their careers that they can't score. If Beacham doesn't come back next season we will have one player with any size that we can count on. That's crazy. And we're bringing the three guards next season.

Watching the 4th quarter on replay, it seemed most of the blocks occurred down the stretch with each being huge. Plus, the Rockets did a great job of getting to the rim on driving lay ups or nice dishes for clean lay ins. Then there was the rebounding on both ends. Gut check!
